I decided this will be on my next oil change at 2k miles... I was actually tempted to use 5w-30 ESP but was swayed by chatgpt LOL.

My only purpose for switching to different viscosity is for engine longevity. I don't care about gas mileage. I want this bad boy to be my last vehicle. I don't have any data. I only read what's on the interwebs. Chat gpt mentioned the new engines have tighter tolerances than previous gen...

I searched chat gpt and it said the 5W-30 is more for the older engine. Juat like the guy in the video in a previous reply said. If you can point me at a research that proves the 5W-30 is better on the 6G 4Runner, please do.

5W-20 it is !

I am going to change my oil at 1000 miles this weekend. I live in Az and we now get 3 digits heat. Does anyone use a different viscosity? The manual we can use 5W-20, anybody else did some research and use other viscosity?

I live in Arizona, and we currently have 3 digits temp... at least it's not engine or tranny oil.

Good morning guys. I have this same issue on my 6th gen 4Runner TRD OR. It is dripping in my garage. It's not water, it seems to be thin oil. I will post pics and a video later. Did the op have the dealership what cause it?

Why not just drain from the actual drain plug? It looks like you were not able to drain all of the oil.

Mine gives two different readings:

Steps: 1. Turn engine on 2. Wait for the screen to boot up 3. Turn Radio off 4. On the screen, Go to Settings - Display - Display OFF 5. Swipe your finger from left to right 5 times, then swipe right to left 5 times Voila! You unlocked the hidden SERVICE menu! To ENABLE Back Camera settings...

You can but you will leave residue at the bottom and those will recirculate with the new oil.

So I just tried to check the oil level and I'm confused why he dipstick shows a different reading on opposite sides of the dipstick. I stand on the driver side and Inposition the dipstick so the wider flat side is facing me, and the opposite side is of course facing the other side. I'm...
