Thanks for posting, I have this issue and it's highly audible and tactile.... It's been this way since 600mi and driving me crazy
I bet there are many others. It seems the severity of the symptoms may differ.
I am going to try & bring mine back to the dealer in the next few weeks. The OPs work order should help. Hoping Toyota has a technical bulletin for this by then

I have had the identical issue with my 6G 4R TRD Sport. It started at around 3000 miles, and by 6500 miles, it was very noticeable. I was super concerned that my local dealership would call it "normal", or say they can't feel it at all.

SO... I called them in advance and spoke to a manager in the department. I let them know my concerns, and asked to be present when they first drove it to diagnose.

Although the "clunk" was fairly slight and subtle, the tech could definitely feel it when going over the right street surface. I left the 4R with them, and they even gave me a loaner Tacoma to use.

They had the car for over a week, but I'm glad to say it's fixed... at least for now. I'm obviously concerned that they installed the exact same part that they took out of it, which may be faulty by design.

The part they replaced is the lower #2 shaft, 45203-60300. All good for now.

I have the same issue with mine on rougher roads, but it's slight. Feels like something is a little loose, but not audible and not really that bad feeling so far.

Service manager drove it and said it's normal for Toyotas with the new electric steering motor and not the older hydraulic ones, but that if it gets worse to bring it back.

Unfortunately, there are more "rough" roads than good ones in my city. It was driving me nuts... I'm glad it's fixed.

Bump. My steering intermediate shaft was replaced and the issue returned 600 miles later. Anyone else?

Yeah I’m feeling this in mine as well. I was thinking maybe I’m just getting used to it and now noticing it but I’m 1500kms in and over slightly rough roads it feels like something is almost loose in the steering. Larger bumps are solid and it’s most noticeable when breaking over rough surfaces.

Glad I found this thread. I've had a slight clunk feeling that can be felt through the steering wheel (barely, but annoying) mainly while in a turn. This has taken place since new (Picked up my 25 ORP after it finally arrived on Black Friday(has a build date of 10/16)) and I have almost 400 miles on it. I was wondering if this was something that was normal since it has been doing it since new. Reminds me of a similar issue that I've had on a 2003 Chevy Tahoe a couple times (although the Tahoe was much worse). I'm going to have to take it in to get it looked at.

I have the same issue. Were you able to bring it in and figure out what the cause is?

I haven’t had a chance yet. Was out of town for two weeks for the holidays (in the 4Runner). At 1700ish miles now and it’s a little more pronounced. I’m going to try and get it looked at within the next couple weeks.

I took it in Friday and they couldn’t find anything. I drove it with a tech and when I was feeling it, he reached over and felt the steering wheel. He said he thinks he felt it but he wanted his master tech to look at it (Who was gone for the day). He did see if there was any play in any of the steering shafts, and there wasn’t (I had already checked before I had brought it in). So I’m bringing it back in Tuesday for the master tech to look at it. I’m not hopeful that they’ll find or do anything. I’ll probably have to wait until it gets worse or starts making an audible noise Instead of a ā€œfeelā€.
