    The issue is with the steering shaft on the 4Runner. Nothing to do with the issue on your 2005 Sienna.

    You don't need to unlock the car before using the kick to open feature. You may not be using the right motion... It's not a wave, it's an in-out kick with your right leg.

    I have this as well. Someone in another thread said it was the steering intermediate shaft.
