Been traveling a lot for business this year and on my current trip I picked a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon from the Hertz president’s circle.

This is what’s better on the Jeep:

#1 real grab handles on both A pillars. My 4th gen has them too, and so do other Toyotas. Why oh why can we not get them on our 6th gen’s?

#2 a designated button for turning off the center screen. I saw that in a Ford compact crossover years ago as well. Yes I know I can click settings, display, turn off but a real button is easier and safer as I zoom down the freeway at near legal speeds.

Other than that, the Jeep is a piece of junk.

The handles are such low hanging fruit, I am agog every time I get in a truck or SUV without them. Then Toyota comes up with whatever they call that passenger handle. My wife called it the nail-ripper before I put an actual handle up there.

I'd love a "screen off" button. I'd even be happy if the dimmer button for the dash would dim the damn radio too. But noooOOOOoooo. Can't have that!

What handle did you install?

Being 6'6", I just step in so #1 is inconsequential to me. For #2, what is the use case for turning off the screen? Seems like choosing 4Runner was a great choice if these are the only 2 nits to pick.

Yeah, I’m 6’6” so the grab handles are a nothing burger and I can’t think of a reason where I was longing to turn off the display. So all in all, I’m missing nothing, lol. Of course after 25 years of driving Toyotas I am biased.

I actually own a 25 jeep wrangler willys, 25 4runner trd offroad premium(wifes) and a 23 4runner trd offroad premium plus and for good measure I daily drive a 23 trd offroad tacoma so you know im a toyota guy lol.
I would say there a few more ways the jeep is better than the 4runner but not much more than that lol. The runner is certainly better at traveling, although I actually take my jeep on longer trips as well but obviously more room and comfort in the runner. I by far trust the yotas more than the jeep any day of the week but honestly offroad that little jeep is like a street legal side x side and can literally go just about anywhere, it's so light, tons of power (4cyl turbo) will actually smoke the 35s on pavement! I dont know if it could get stuck if i tried. I actually offroad only with a guy who has a mint stock 2016 trd pro and it does fantastic don't get me wrong but the jeep just does everything so easy. In my opinion though offroad ONLY the jeep is far superior. My 23 runner is quite decked out on icon suspension and 33.5in tires and i could not take it in many of the places that i take this jeep in.

Turning off the center screen is much easier on my eyes when driving longer distances on the highway at night. Makes me less tired.

A new TRD pro with disconnect and setup suspension/tire setup like your Jeep could do most everything the Jeep can do.

My old ass goes to bed at 730 when it is still light out, so never crossed my mind. Makes sense though.

I agree it could probably do most everything. The suspension on my 23 4runner is actually far nicer than my jeeps. I have an Icon stage2 on the 4runner and the tires are only 1/2in bigger on the jeep. I think my approach/departcher angles on my 4runner are pretty good as well, considering I have about as high clearance bumpers front and rear as you can get and I'm not running a sway bar at all but it just does not do what the jeep does over most obstacles articulation wise, plus of course there is the size/weight factor that helps the jeep tremendously. I just wish Toyota could do something crazy like buy jeep out, put their engineering/quality in there it would be sweeeet! or just bring back the FJ with a removable door/top kind of thing, I'd drop the jeep like a bad habit and have an all Toyota fleet!

Your 2 door Jeep is very nice. A short wheel base 2 door 4Runner with removable top would be very nice.

Button to turn off the screen would be nice, I don't subscribe to the Toyota Care website and only my wife has a cell so when I'm buy myself it's advertisements displayed. Also, I hate drive assist, and cruse control breaking assist. A button to turn off all the safety controls for people that know how to drive would be nice. Didn't know it had all this garbage until 3.0 it took me into oncoming traffic. Then I studied the owner's manual and still don't understand most of it. The manual was written by an Idiot. turn to page 5-40 for an explanation and on page 5-40 it sends you to another page. At one session I had 4 page markers to get me back to original page. On another note, my chevy truck has 96 pages dedicated to seat belts. Why I wrote this? At one time I owned a 1950 Chevy, and it didn't even have turn signals.
