Hey, does anyone know if I can install the OEM aluminum TRD skid plate on an SR5? Does it just bolt on using existing hardware?

It’s direct bolt on, you need some extra hardware (2 bolts) which the kit may come but worth double checking.

Its a direct bolt on, it comes with that front cross bar but that is not needed for the SR5 4runner but it for the Tacoma SR5. The part serves both.

I will just pile on here since I put the TRD skid plate on my SR5. Like the other said, you either need to:
  • Buy 2 more bolts since the SR5's stock "skid plate" only uses 4 bolts and the TRD uses 6
  • Buy the skid plate bolt kit from Toyota when you order the skid plate, it comes with 6 replacement bolts.
Outside of that, its a direct replacement.

Appreciate all of the responses and part numbers! Where do I get this magical bracket that my SR5 needs in order to install the skid plate? Does Toyota sell it?

You don’t need a bracket, literally just 2 more bolts since the TRD skid plate extends further back then the stock SR5 one

For the love of butter soft metal don't crank down those bolts very hard. The port was nice enough to hose my front two on my TH. Had to tap a M10 bolt over the factory M8 and put better steal ones in.

Thanks for that heads up! I have been using a torque wrench for the skid plates, I think the torque specs for it is 27ft lbs, which is less than the oil drain plug (29ft lbs), so definitely a good word of caution, don't crank it down too hard.

I was able to install the Trailhunter skid plates without any issue. The bracket and bolts were already present on my SR5. I don't believe the mounting is any different for the TRD skid plate.
