The Toyota multimedia system is trash, designed solely to get you to subscribe for features, be it siriusXM or Toyota's own lackluster subscription services. I feel like this update will only move things further in the wrong direction.

All I can say is everyone hold on to their panties because every 5 years we're going to see major software changes in the automotive industry just like Microsoft and apple. You either learn how to adapt or buy a 1999 4Runner 4th gen oh I wish I still had mine! :)

But I will add, that I do like the onboard navigation. It seems to work pretty well and I can at least see where the hell I'm going.

I just wish they'd put battery voltage and outside temp in the app

1999 4Runner was 3rd generation not 4th. I had 2nd gen 1990 and also a 4th gen 2004 before getting a 5th gen and now patiently waiting for a 6th gen.

Glad I got my 4runner now, 3.0 only uses 4g cellular, not 5g so it will go away when 4g goes in 5-10 years. long time I know but for those of us playing the long game, the car will just be getting broken in. After 3 days or so I could not see an advantage of connected services for me. since the app only lets you disable all, not 1 by 1, I cancelled them all. the ATT 30 day trial is still active, I will just let that run out. I cannot see any advantage over Carplay unless you forget your phone or don't have one.
once you remove all the connected services, the system you are left with works quite well. IMHO.

I agree. I opted out entirely of all data service at delivery. So nice.

TSS 4.0 means more subscriptions, more money every month to be able to experience basic features that were included on vehicles 15, even 25 years ago.
