One comment I meant to make in my earlier post--it is better to use silicone grease on the fittings if you need a little lubrication. It is safer for the rubber material in the hoses. WD-40 (which is more of a cleaner than a lubricant, although it does work short-term as a lube which is what you used it for) will damage the rubber.

I’m interested in the filter sock can I run this 24 seven even in a non-dusty area? Thanks
Absolutely! It helps protect against dust and light water intrusion, but it also acts as a general pre-filter and increases the service life of the filter underneath.

Any recommendations on how often to do filter changes?

Love my intake btw!

anyone with this intake had their 4Runner into the dealership yet? They give any grief or talk about voiding any warranties or anything like that with this intake on? I know Subaru was finicky about aftermarket stuff but havent had alot of experience on the Toyota side

I've been around turbos for a very long time. Most of these cold air intake are all basically crap.
They don't work they suck hot air into your turbo. True cold air intake for your turbo takes it directly outside of the engine bay through ducting . And if your turbo should have a problem that will void your warranty. Just my two cents

I did earlier this week! It was due for the 5k checkup. The service team didn’t say anything about it. I also told my salesman about it as I paid him a visit while at the dealership. He was excited to hear about it, and I didn’t see that he had any concerns.

or directly outside of the engine bay through *anywhere* that cold air is... like the wheelwell... like this unit does...

This thing rips. Install was easy on my rig. @SXTH Element killed it as always.

Also it takes in cold air from the wheel well, which the stock intake does not.

10/10 happy customer.

If only they had a pre-sale discount going for their intercooler upgrade... đź‘€

Does anyone know of any issues installing on a trd pro with the OTT tune ?
If fitting the SXTH intake to a TRD Pro or Trail Hunter, it will require a custom fle that has the MAF Scaling adjusted for the ID of the SXTH intake. We can perform the scaling, but it will require you to reflash the vehicle, so reach out to your retailer for the update.

I have the OTT tune on my TRD Offroad Hybrid, works perfectly no issues.
To piggyback on my previous post and hopefully avoid confusion, the Pro/Trail Hunter vehicles utilize a factory intake with a "large" MAF housing. All other Hybrids (Off-Road, Sport, Limited, etc.) and gas-only vehicles use the "small" MAF housing.

Any "small" MAF housing vehicle will have no issues running the OE Tune or the OTT tune with the SXTH intake.

The Pro/Trail Hunter, however, with their larger MAF housing on the OE intake, will require a custom-scaled file to run the SXTH intake on these models.

I would really like to see where the air intake is supposedly getting a cold input air flow.

The charging pipes on a turbo do just what they're supposed to do on these 4 Runners; they take air push it through the turbo and on the other side run it through the intercooler, and repeat.

A couple of people have said that this is a cold air intake from the wheel well, all I can see is an open air filter in the engine bay which is very hot.

My experiences with high performance turbos or any Turbo. Is when you start pushing hot air into the intake especially on a hot summer day isn't the best for performance and longevity.

Perhaps somebody can show a diagram of this wheel well cold air intake?

Thank you

I reached out to my retailer and was told:

Sxth element intake is a great option for some more pronounced induction and turbo noises.
There’s nothing we need to do with the tune to account for it. The ECU can compensate for that intake stock or tuned.

Install it, and send it!

Is this not the case? I’m a little confused by two different responses.

What I shared above is accurate.

I can only assume there was a slight misunderstanding between you and our retailer. I'll send you a PM and we can make sure everyone's on the same page. (y)
