Simple scenario; what if your spare tire is the wrong diameter from the rest of your tires and you are very far from anywhere you can get another one or repair the flat. Are you willing to risk damage to your differential and/or drivetrain?
Got it. You've answered my question. Thanks.

Yea same. Posted this thread up last week - https://www.4runner6g.com/forum/thr...-carrier-released-carries-up-to-37-tire.8784/

Thinking about taking a chance on it. Haven't found any reviews yet though.
My only turn off is the distance from the rear tire from the hatch. I was hoping to find pictures of the swing down version to see if it's closer. I want something as close as possible without rubbing the bumper when it's folded down. I don't know, I have a vision in my mind of how the older land cruisers looked with them and I kind of want that on my 4Runner.

only thing i can find in the manual is if you the compact spare tire. max speed is 50 and may affect the 4wd system.

cant find anything for those that have the full spare negative points.

I have mine on a swing out on the passenger side. The rear-view camera is now pretty much useless so I am looking at getting a Wolfbox and placing the rear camera on the spare tire as soon as I can figure out a license plate holder that can actually fit it. This is another huge surprise I had after I installed it since most of the universal plate holders are built using the deep offsets in mind. I think I may have to cut the bar that comes out of the middle of the wheel if they have enough holes to make them shorter.

Have you gotten a Wolfbox or found another solution for the camera yet? We're about to install a swing out tire carrier as well, looking for options.

@Wolfbox would work perfect for this. I don’t have a spare tire carrier but I do have the wolfbox tripro and I know for sure it would work just great. My rear camera for the wolfbox is mounted up underneath by the 3rd brake light. you would easily see over the tire and it’s adjustable

Yes, I am using a Wolfbox G900 TriPro attached to rear license plate on my spare tire (just a tad off-center but it works.
