I have an SR5 for reference, but has anyone noticed that when driving in rain the hood channels it down to the grille which then hits air from moving causing it to spray all over the windshield? I live in a relatively hilly area so I am going downhill often which causes a torrent of rain to constantly spray up like a hose.

I have definitely experienced this (and have seen old posts mentioning it as well). I had thought it might be unique to the hoods with the scoop as there is more shape and deeper channels, but I guess that isn't the case.

I have one spot on my daily commute that I can replicate it every time when braking to turn onto a side road (if there is enough rain). It is definitely more noticeable for me when the paint is coated, waxed or sealed. I can see the water beading and then sheeting up into small pools just waiting for me to hit the brakes. I use Rain-X and consider it a free windshield wash.

I have not noticed that and have driven in a lot or rain in the last 10 months. I did fit a Husky Hood protector which may be preventing this happening. I got the hood protector to protect from chips on the front edge. I have protective film on the rest of the front but the hood protector was much les cost that getting the film on the hood.

Haven’t driven in rain yet. Bought it in October and it’s been snowing ever since. I did have a silverado that would collect water while driving in the rain and upon slowing down to about 25mph, it would sling water up on the windshield all at once. Surprise! Usually after the wipers were off.

Thats why you have wipers to wipe water off your windshield.

You have brakes to stop the car

Yes, it's a bit crazy. I have a Pro, which has the scoop and the water comes from everywhere, appears out of nowhere, etc.

And for the those in thread that can't help themselves, I do have wipers, they work and I understand how air and water interact. Go read a book.

Yup, same thing happens to me too. It's fine if I am cruising, but when I start to slow down to come to a stop, it kicks some water up into the windshield.
