Hey All,

Owner of an ORP with no mods currently and looking for a recommendation and rationale for a roof rack. Interested in using for RTT and light gear up top for light overlanding with my toddler. Can anyone share why I'd go with Prinsu Pro, Westcott Designs, or another option? Is there a secondary market for "like new" rack?

Grateful for any help and guidance!

I have a 6th gen Trailhunter and had the stock ARB rack removed and the Prinsu standard rack put on. It increases dynamic and static weight which made it easier for me to get an iKamper skycamp 3 installed. Adding a cargo molle accessory panel next.

I had the exact same question on rack choices...
In my research the Capital Sherpa Rack had a lot of praise and looks awesome! Expensive
My #1 need was a low profile rack so I can still get it into my garage so I went with the Westcott Lo Pro. Good price (Very high shipping costs tho), made in America, looks great and adds less than 2" to the top of the roof.
Prinsu is a well know brand, looks good, sits about 2.6" above roofline.
Hope this helps

I went with Sherpa and I've been very happy with it. The design is solid and the aesthetics are very nice. Its low profile w/o being so tight that you can't install an RTT. The customer service w/ sherpa has been fantastic also. not crazy heavy and very robust. Solid as a rock.

I had a prinsu rack on my bronco and was supremely unimpressed w/ the quality and customer service. lead time was super long too!

Looks pretty sweet!

Were you concerned at all about exceeding the weight limit for the roof? I know Prinsu says their rack increases the dynamic load limit, but the 4runner limit is 165lbs. Have you had any issues? I'm thinking about doing something similar to you, but I'm worried about the roof limit of the 4Runner.

Not worried about it. I think there have been enough rnrs loaded down over the years to prove it’s plenty strong

I have Prinsu. Strong rack. I had awful customer service. Shipping issues. Missing hardware. No resolution. Had to find and buy my own hardware. Wish I had gone westcott for the customer service alone. Other people have had good experience though with Prinsu. So I hope yiu get them on a good day if that’s the route you take.
