Were there any certain door rattles you went after? I have one that sounds like it’s from the drivers exterior handle but echoes up through the back pillar of the drivers door. I’ve done some dynomat but no luck shutting it down so far.

How can they call it a DSP but you are only able to manipulate gain?
Its a Digital Sound Processor which processes the sound. You can adjust the certain bands to your liking. The beatsonic alpha is just a line level booster which you can only adjust gains and in a jbl system you can only adjust total gains cause the jbl system only uses the front output to the jbl amp.

I can already do that with the EQ. There is no way to do that with the BeatSonic

The audio unit eq is only Lo Mid Hi settings. You can not adjust individual frequencies like the DSP beatsonic Encore X. You would need a laptop and other equipment to tune the sysytem.

The Beatsonic alpha is only a line level booster and there is no eq adjustments.

This is the Alpha line level booster

This is the line level booster with DSP.

Its funny that you had mentioned that as i have had some noise coming from the doors. One is inside the drivers side view mirror. That will have to be replaced as I dont want to open that up.
The other is the windows run channel brackets in both front doors. I tried to post a video of the noise but I guess the file is too big. But how the chanel bracket was designed, it cradles the run chanel thats part of the door frame. There is excessive clearance and nothing to dampen it as its metal to metal. I have put closed cell foam pieces on the bracket to insulate the two metals from making noise. I did not use anything like felt or other foam as it will be exposed to water and did not want that to create rust.

Sorry no pic of the foam placement but if you look at it you'll know where to put them. Kind of on the inside of the outer piece shown in pics. If you look closely at the dimples where it contacts the door frame window run it has marks which go to metal. A little touch up paint will do to prevent from rusting.

Awesome. Thank you! I will be opening it back up this week. It has been driving me absolutely crazy.

This is a great thread. I think the audio upgrades for this platform are still in its infancy. If anyone wants a better audio\driving experience from their 4Runner they really should look into sound deadening at minimum the front doors. Its bring down the sound floor of a moving vehicle, removes rattles, and increases the front bass. The metal window run pictured above also needs to have the top prong and bottom bolt area padded to remove a specific rattle at high volumes.

Why did you opt for the Encore X when they make a plug and play amp that works with the JBL system? Was it a preference thing or did it provide more control?

@ToyoTech808 How are you planning to RTA if you can only use two channels? Or are you just adjusting by ear?
Since I do not have full control over all the channels I just used a RTA overall. I calibrated RTA to flat with vehicle running, then adjusted from there. After getting a baseline then I fine tuned it by ear.

I have already covered this on previous replies.

I tried that also but found that because of the low response from the factory speakers/sub, it left only really low end (40hz and below) emitting from my subs. Coming from a completely tuned/timed system in my previous vehicle that I installed and tuned myself, I’m not really happy with how this has turned out so far. TacoTunes is supposed to be coming out with a harness to let people connect a DSP, but that won’t be out until later this year unfortunately.
