For me after installation, the map lights no longer light up when i walk up to the car. only the dome light. Do you have a similar issue?

Haven’t noticed anything, mainly because my switch is turned to off, I’ll only turn them on at night when driving

if they were anything like the 5th gen map lights, use a plastic pry tool.

i have seen way to many people short out a BCM module on the 5th gen prying with a metal screwdriver and short circuit the bulb housing to the reflector.

i was lucky, i used duct tape to pull out the bulbs and even then i shattered 1 oem bulb pulling them out.

you could pull off the plastic clear len's (that you pushed to turn on/off) and just replace the bulb instead of the whole housing.

I didn’t remove any bulbs doing this, I believe they’re inside the actual housing itself. One harness powers the entire unit, once you unplug that it’s disconnected. After you pop the bezel off and a couple other pieces, make holes, put the lights in, bezel back on, and you pop it in again, you’re done.

not sure, i usually wait a year or two before the mainstream companies post bulb numbers.

usually like vleds, lasfit, retrofit source, diode dynamics, etc posts them after a while.

lol, yeah i know that the map lights can be repalced.

i mean lasfit has replacements out for them.

Their website says that you lose the functionality of the dome light turning on as you walk up to the car if you installed these.

Noticed this in the Owner's Manual.

on the 5th gen (before they went led) you could pull the len's out and replace the bulb directly, hence the reason i said that. i havent looked into the 6th gen, as its winter time and i really dont do any mods until spring/summer in ND.

and thats usually after april at the earilest. just to wet/slushy/cold before then and i dont have a heated garage to do mods.

so i am limited.

i had to put off the vinyl insert mod on the back "toyota" and screen protector since it got too cold in october and wont warm up enough until after april.

Well, when I open the door, they come on. I think it’s because they have a slight delay in turning on. I always turn my car on first, and they light up when I get in

Understood, but someone in this thread asked the question if the dome lights still activate when approaching the vehicle which they do not when these are installed.

Oh well, doesn’t really bother me personally, my windows are so dark I can’t even see inside of them at night, so I could barely see the light anyways haha

Curiously enough, this doesn’t hold true for me. I’ve got the dome and map lights installed, and I just walked up to my truck with keys in my pocket and the dome light illuminated as I approached the driver door.

I just did it right now and same thing happened
