PPF’d and Heat Shield on the Seibon Carbon Fiber Hood

Installed the under hood factory heat shield along with some adhesive backed aluminum heat shield and had the Seibon carbon fiber hood PPF wrapped in clear matte for protection from the elements but I love the way it looks too.

The PPF installer said this was a tough job because of all the different angles. In fact, I need to bring it back so he can finish the hood scoop.

Hope this helps someone who is considering a CF hood.

You wouldn't happen to have a P/N on that scoop? I'm doing a hood swap but the scoop I was looking at buying, doesn't seem to have that honeycomb pattern in front. Your hood looks slick with the underground!

Thank you. Mine is all one piece (Seibon Carbon Fiber Hood - seiboncarbon.com ) and the hood scoop is functional (Hence the mesh) vs the Toyota OEM Sport Hood

I PPFd my entire roof prior to installing the roof rack and just did the hood to protect the carbon fiber. Would like to do the entire vehicle at some point but it is really expensive.

I live in So Cal and had a shop in San Clemente do it (Detail King Express)

Looks awesome! Forgive my ignorance but what exactly are the advantages and disadvantages for switching to a carbon fiber hood?

Thanks! Its 30% lighter, has a functioning hood scoop vs OEM which is decorative, TRD OR only comes with a smooth hood so you get the look and an actual functioning hood scoop. Definitely makes it look meaner too

Stuff!
Wondering if you made any changes to the hood hinge mount springs losing so much weight with the Carbon hood?

Looks great!

Hey OP - Looks great!

Couple of questions:

1. I see hood pins as a requirement on their site, but don't see it on your pics. Are they installed or are they just not necessary?

2. Have you noticed any fluttering with the CF hood? Would love to switch over, but wasn't sure if it behaves in a way that would annoy me.

Def let me know your experience with it thus far!

Thank you! I was a little reluctant to use the struts I had bought for my original hood, but ended up using those and they work perfectly fine. By that I mean, it feels pretty normal.

Thank you! Good questions
I did not use any hood pins and have not seen anyone who has. The hood closes just like a factory hood with a great fit and sound when it shuts
I just took a road trip of over 1000 miles driving up to 85mph with wind and it did great. I do notice that the center of the hood does seem to move up and down a bit on some bumps.
It is much higher than the smooth hood so I moved my seat up higher to see over it better (Im 5' 11")
Those are the "downsides"
Hope that helps
