Long trip real gas mileage SR5

Drove the 25 4runner SR5 with 275/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT4 tires and no front spoiler or lift. 851 miles there and back. 50 miles of that is probably driven around the city the rest is highway. Speed limits ranged from 35-70 mph and I always use cruise where I can and do about 5 mph over the speed limit. My total average was 16.9 mpg running premium.

Now I am coming from a 21 Tundra SR5 4x4 crew max so I'm not disappointed, but should it be better?

How many miles are on it? My mpg was 15-16 until i broke it in at ~2k miles, then i started getting 20-21.

Same here, my mpg sucked for a few thousand miles. Since 3-4k I am getting 20.3 all around and can hit 26mpg on highway trips if I keep it under 65. I am running stock tires and spoiler, yours I'd expect to shave 1 mpg or so with the tires and spoiler delete.

Compare to the factory OEM tires, the bigger Falken tire is 2 times the weight. Make sense it will loose some MPG.

About ten to fifteen pounds heavier per tire.

My SR5 on similar trips gets 25-26MPG. Around town, I am getting 22.5 consistently. I am in Eco mode, with front Airdam and no mods. I am in ECO mode and drive at the speed limit or slightly above. Being older, I drive conservatively, anticipating lights and slow-downs. My total mileage is about 1900. If I want a spirited drive, I'll save that for a Porsche 911 Turbo.

One think to account for: Stock MPH vs. GPS, I used the reading on waze. SR5 all stock read 60mph, when the actual was 57mph. Switched to 255/75/70 Discoverer Road+Trail AT, now speedo is right on vs. GPS. Accounting for this change, removing airdam and the larger tire w/ more aggressive tread cost me ~1-2mpg at freeway speeds.

Texas to Illinois - started at 18.8mpg, dropped to 18.3mpg

TRD PRO avg speed 70-75mph using cruise control 90% of trip

WD’s low pro roof rack (side note: more wind noise than expected) & no added weight other than two weekend bags.

Not disappointed but was hoping for better

Interesting, I got a flat 20 mpg driving 700 miles to SC with 285 M/T's. Odometer was about 1800 at the time and I drive 8-12 over. I'm curious to test it now with an OTT tune, have two longer trips coming up.

I forgot to add, half the trip was in ECO mode the other half in NORMAL. Once I got to 16.9 mpg it stayed the same.

SR5 with Yokohoma Geolander 17" tires. 3,400 miles. 600 miles towing a small fishing boat. half stop and go/city driving and half highway at 60-70mph total average MPG is 23.1

If the tires are larger than stock your mileage calculation will always be off unless that is compensated for in the vehicle system. Miles travelled will show less than actual. There is another thread or 2 on this forum where I mentioned this. You could calculate the difference by determining the percent difference in circumference between stock and your tires.

As others have said, though, I also saw somewhat worse mileage for the first 1-2000 miles or so.
