I was able to upgrade the lift gate lights on my 5th gen 4R but these appear to be non-upgradable. The ones I use in my travel trailer are motion activated so when I open a cabinet door, they come on. I'm going to try one on the liftgate now.
What's crazy is there is a light for the LC that pops right in where they latch is and I thing the hole on the LC is smaller than the 4Runner from Cartrimhome Tailgate Illumination LED Hatch Door Lights Replacement kit For Toyota Land Cruiser Prado J250 LC250 2024 2025

Please let us know how the install goes and if there is a $50 different. These stock LEDs are lame.
The one I bought for my Land Cruiser (traded it in for the 4Runner zero regrets) was awesome and super bright

I thought Land Cruiser's back door swung out? They lift up like the 4R? But no roll down window, right?

Hi guys, new to the group. I recently found a versatile and easy solution to not having enough light at the tailgate area. I'm sure this isn't new but I thought I'd share since others I shared it to found it helpful:

Magnetic work light + metal plate phone magnet = detachable liftgate light!

It rotates too so you can change the angle of the light. No drilling or modifications needed. Just adhesive backing on the metal plates. Easily reversible.

There are many options out there for mounts and lights, but there's the links I used:

Great idea !
Having trouble keeping the metal plate secured to the lift gate . Did you use additional adhesive on the back of the metal plates ?

Can you provide an update on the brightness and fit of this?
I haven’t installed it yet. I’m waiting on another harness to connect it easier to my truck. This was thier suggestion. But when I had one for my LC250 it was bright and awesome which is why I bought it for the 4Runner

I ordered the same light from an Amazon duplicate store. They don’t have instructions but if you follow the cartrimhome YouTube channel video for the rav4 light it’s the same procedure. The light is definitely more blue than the pillar and non-pio cargo light but they do provide a lot of light! The light turns off and powers on midway through the opening and closing cycle so no worries about it staying on after you close the door. I think you can also turn it on and off by just touching it too.

Best 50 bucks I spent in a while. Took 5 mins to install and is powered by the lift gate. https://cartrimhome.com/Tailgate-Il...ights-Replacement-kit-For-Toyota-4Runner-2025 if you have a power lift gate they will send you a different harness that taps into the power button making super easy to install

How much additional light does this provide if one already has the PIO cargo lights ?
