My first 4 Runner (a 2025 TRD Off Road Premium) that I now had for 45 days. Traveling on I-17 south of Flagstaff AZ after dark, I was feeling slight left to right oscillations with the Lane Keeping Assist on. 1st lane was white solid line on the right, passing broken white line on the left. 2nd lane was white broken passing lines on both sides. 3rd lane was yellow solid line on the left, passing white line on the right. When in the 2nd lane (middle lane), the oscillations were the worst. Lane 1 & 3 was very mild almost non existent. If I turned off the Lane Keeping Assist, the oscillations went away. That rules out a tire issue. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Mine does that. The lane keep assist system is both sensitive and somewhat aggressive at times. I generally leave it on when driving long distances just to keep me honest I guess. For some reason I’ve always found the Japanese manufacturers to have overly sensitive and somewhat aggressive lane keep assist systems.

Is this the first time using it. I noticed the same thing the first couple times I used it. I was to the point I thought I just wouldn't use it but after a few times it seem to settle down and stay in lanes. I wonder if it has a learning curve???

BTW, I still don't really use it, with having to put your hand on the steering wheel to be detected every 45 seconds seems counter intuitive and kinda frustrating JMHO

I have noticed very mild oscillations on mine too. Coincidentally, I rented a Grand Highlander in Milwaukee last weekend and it had all the bells/whistles. I played around in the menus a little and saw that you could set the sensitivity of the lane tracing between 3 levels (low/med/high). I wonder if our 4Runners have that adjustability and if it would calm down the oscillating at all?

Paying attention while operating a moving vehicle is a lot safer.
The vehicle's safety systems are a backup and enhancement to paying attention. It's faster than you and is constantly working, even while drivers are fiddling with all the controls and multimedia interfaces while driving.

Same for me, usually turn it off unless I have a decently long hwy trip.

Thanks for all your opinions and insights, glad to know I'm not imagining things and it appears to be a common issue. I like my 4 Runner too much to take it back

Absolutely hate, loathe and despise lane assist. Turned off within minutes of ownership. I have zero problems maintaining lane position. Why is this even a thing?

really ?

smartphones and dumbass drivers
Yes, really. Let’s create a software safety system that allows drivers to become even more zoned out on the road. Heaven forbid people take accountability…

You’ve obviously never been rear-ended and totaled by texting distracted driver.
