Hey Everyone,

I’m looking into solutions to improve all the interior lighting throughout the car (map, dome, cargo, etc.) I’ve seen plenty of threads about Meso installations, but I’m not looking to go this route at the moment.

To anyone who might have done the Meso installation though, are there standard lightbulbs up there like there used to be in old cars that can be swapped out?

I can’t quite tell with this diagram:

You could've check installation video on YouTube to see that the map & dome lights aren't standard bulbs, or otherwise, there wouldn't be expensive option like Meso.

lol so if the bulbs go bad it becomes a $$$ cost to replace the lights since you have to replace the whole board that runs all those switches.

saves me the hassle of thinking of replacing them. if they go bad, i might find an alternative, but otherwise ..i.. to toyota on this

i did watch a couple, but wasn’t quite sure what I was looking at. Thought I’d consult the expert advice of the fine folks in this forum, but thanks for your comment.

Yeah exactly this seems like something that’ll be a problem in these cars 10-15 years down the line

In that time, I'm sure there will be many aftermarket options available to compete with Meso.

The stock lights do seem a bit dim to me, but then again probably appropriate balance between enough and too much (that would affect safety if the passenger used it while the vehicle was moving). I had an old Sienna that I replaced all the interior (and exterior, actually) lights with standard LED bulbs. The old lignts were like a small candle. The new ones made it about as bright as a football stadium...first time I tried it I thought I might need sunglasses.
