25 TRD ORP.. Background of having a fourth gen with very minor issues mostly wear and tear, and a fifth gen with absolutely no issues and the epitome of Simplicity with only power windows and a rear backup camera.

I was very skeptical as I am in general because I purchased a brand new Mercedes that was a lemon and I had to have corporate by it back.

I had never experienced electrical issues in my life on any car like it was on the Mercedes. It was typical of a parasitic virus running through the entire system that was never fixed.

But having a 24 Toyota Rav4 Limited with the software that is almost identical I took a chance and could not be happier so far. But I only have clocked 300 + hundred miles.

Knock on wood, I have not seen anything quirky or odd other than just learning the features of all the cameras. The shifting features from two-wheel drive to four-wheel high, and learning how to shift to four-wheel low was pretty much seamless and very responsive.
Also the crawl mode is spectacular. And the multi-terrain feature is also very good.
Every chance I get to test these features I do. I am constantly looking for gravel, soft dirt you name it.

I pulled into this construction site the other day just to crawl around in some irregularity surfaces. Construction folks were looking at me like what's this nut job doing.!

So this is my third Forerunner and I am at this point very happy. MPG seems to steadily be increasing as it is breaking in. As soon as Bilstein releases their leveling kit I will definitely change out.

I personally feel the front Springs and compression and rebound are weak even though it's a TRD off road.

You only live once in this lifetime so go for it.
But that's just my two cents.

I'm deciding now on a 4R please let me know what if any problems you have had? Especially with the engine and hybrid system. Also any other problems with electronics. Literally anything that has been a headache and if you have had to take your ride back to the dealer for repairs including software updates?
My only complaint is the engine noise and the hood dont have insulation on my sr5, but i love the turbo noises!

Yesterday we went on some moderate off-roading. No mechanical issues whatsoever. The interior was absolutely quiet. No squeaks or rattles. The car feels like is built like a piece of rock. The only thing is the stiff suspension, but it is expected since it is a body on frame truck. To keep it running for a long time, keep the maintenance tight. Personally I will run mine on premium fuel. Runs smoother that way and I like that.

I own a Trailhunter and absolutely love it. The ride is solid, no squeaks or rattles, no issues with brake squeal. I did have an issue with balancing the tires, but just replaced all 4 tires - since Toyota would only go so far to help (they only replaced 2 tires). I called Toyo and they rectified the issue. Now I have non-oem tires with lifetimes rotations and balancing and tires with a deeper tread than the oems.
Apart from that, I really enjoy it infinitely more than I did over my 2024 ORP, which I sold after 800 miles. Have 1500 on the TH and am grinning everything I step on that gas pedal and feel the turbo and battery boost kick in....

My other vehicle is a 2014 rav4 LE, and this is my first 4runner sr5, for me, i feel like riding in a cloud compared to my rav4, a lot more power and the feeling of driving a solid vehicle, plus those turbo noises!! The only complain is my 2014 rav4 has a quieter engine than my 4runner

We have a 2017 RAV4 XLE too and it has actually a nice ride. Has been bulletproof with absolutely zero problems. I maintain it well which will do with the 4R. Also made in Japan. In general I don’t buy Toyotas which are not made there and use only OEM parts, including oil and filters. Have no reason to doubt that the 6th gen 4Runner will be a reliable truck.

Myself and a couple other people here have a weird squeaking/chirping sound coming from under our ORPs that the dealers either can't replicate or don't know the cause. I also have the brake issue, and I had to put some foam shims in the front window seals to keep the front windows from rattling on bunny road while half open. All minor annoyances I presume are due to buying asap when a new model upgrade came out.

I enjoy the 4R otherwise though, huge improvement over the '22 Tacoma ORP I was coming from.

All good here. The only glitches are with the infotainment system. Sometimes forgets my phone and other random occurrences. Apparently software isn’t Toyota’s forte. Hopefully future updates will polish that. Otherwise this is mechanically solid truck. Well built for off and on road driving. With strict maintenance could be a rightful descendant of the 5rh generation.
I noticed if I start my car from the app, once I get in the car it won’t connect to phone. I have to turn the car off manually and turn it back on manually to connect to my phone. The app start for the car is convenient but it’s annoying when Im headed to work and want to be connected to my phone and go.

7500 miles on my ORP so far. zero issues. I love it. You need watch a few Youtube videos to figure out how you want to set things up with the dash and infotainment systems. Love the ride, no rattles or squeaks. Averaging 21.5 mpg (25/75 city/highway). I do wish it had more enclosed storage space but thats about it.

(IMO) 100% wasted money: Digital Key - just will not work and Toyota can’t fix it.
PIA: the leg opening rear tailgate for me works 30% of the time. Now it could be me but…..
Also at 77 the technology is just over my head. Not Toyota’s fault.
OTHERWISE
My other unit is ‘23 4Runner Off-Road (66,000 miles) and this new one is far superior to the 6cly ‘23 in motor power and especially RIDE And mpg.

The LIMITED (non-hybrid) just got back from a 2000 mile trip and today 1000 miles from home in Colorado. The motor and ride and mpg is superior.

I just had this issue of my android phone not connecting for the past 2 weeks, then I saw this post. I went to the Google Play Store and updated Android Auto app and just went to my 4R and it connected perfectly via Bluetooth. Hence, for me anyway, it wasn't a Toyota issue but an Android issue.
