17.5 mpg via fuelly, 17.7 via dash calculation. 3,000 miles.

The fuel economy is terrible, and I cannot understand why. I came from a 5th gen and I reliability got 20 mpg, whether on my suburban drive to work or highway (typically cruising at 75). I drive reasonably conservative, and even trying to baby my 6th gen I cannot get the mileage up to anywhere near the advertised 23 mpg. The highway range is what really irks me.

Here is a great example of the poor mileage: 90 miles, highway, lightly hilly with a net loss in elevation, light traffic, cruise control, vehicle reports 68 mph average and 16.8 mpg. Wtf!?!?

I did bring my vehicle to the deal for diagnostics and they reported everything was within spec.

TRD Pro.
Regular gas.
No mods.
Eco or normal, I see no difference.
That’s not good. What are your tire pressures? Have you tried premium gas to see if there is any difference?

Not good...you're telling me! Tire pressures are 34 psi as per the in-vehicle readings.

I have not tried premium, and do not plan to. Toyota says regular is fine, and I assume that is what they based the fuel economy ratings on.

I would try a tank of super, just to see if there is any difference. The exact same hybrid engine that is in your 4Runner is in the LandCruiser, and with the LC Toyota recommends 91 octane.

If there is no significant difference, go back to regular.

I'm at 2187 miles on my TH, still sitting at 18.5 total MPG according to the dash. Still use 93 octane. 36 minute commute to campus M-Thur at 65-70 mph. That same trip home is an hour, mostly stop and go and then down to 55-65 mph. No cruise.

The last few tanks were around 20mpg. Usual driving, but also windy AF almost every day...
20k miles, TH in ECO, 87 octane top tier.

I filed a complaint via Toyota's support page (https://support.toyota.com/s/questions-comments?language=en_US). Toyota actually replied pretty quickly! Went back-and-forth via the support portal, and then actually had a human from Toyota call me! They collected my thoughts, expectations, and data and were going to contact the dealer I had look over the vehicle and said they would get back to me. We shall see...

I haven't owned my TRD Pro for long but after 2,000 miles driven I'm pretty happy with the overall mpg. I have a combined 18.8 mpg which includes a mixture of highway commute, city driving, and 2/10 or 3/10 onX trails. I just got back from a long trip today and the last leg of my trip I got 21.4 average which was pretty good haha! I'm sure I could of made this a little better with eco mode and very conservative driving. How has everyone else's 6th gens mpg so far? I do a lot of late night driving and have been loving the cruising sub 15mph completely silent when the hybrid is engaged haha, goes into stealth mode. I ofc did not buy this car for the mpg, I just read a lot of things saying the mpg is worse than this!

Cold so mpg dropped. Both my 5 gens would be down in the 15's now. I tried prem a while back and didn't see or feel any difference
