i wonder why the sr5 gets so much better mpg... mines a trd offroad and i get around 20 cruising at 80mph. Avg for last 2000 miles is 21.3

i dont think the bigger tires make a huge difference in aerodynamics. perhaps it's the fullsize spare disrupting airflow to the diffuser and creating wake drag?
Got 20.2 today going from the mountains in SW VA to Chincoteague for about 350 miles., all in Sport mode. SR5 with the below
285/70 17 tires, same size spare
Roof rack
8' awning
4 traction boards mounted width wise due to my mounts not fitting the extrusions in a forward orientation
Totes on roof rack
Me, Old Lady and the kid- 450lbs
2 Dogs - 120lbs
Unknown weight on the amount of luggage they had; all I know is it was heavy and overkill for a long weekend. Females 😂

Been settling around 20.5 with my daily driving. I've tested Eco, Normal and Sport and haven't noticed a difference in mpg. I do like the power of Sport mode. We have a lot of overpasses on our highways here mixed in with a little city driving. May switch back to Eco to do more testing.
