Just hit 1300 miles on my TH. Average since birth is sitting at 18.6. I came back to work this week, so that is hitting heavy Austin traffic and an hour drive home. I run in normal mode and put 93 Exxon in the tank.

91 octane here. In sport mode 100% of the time and floor it everywhere I can. Usually between 18.5 and 19 mpg.

Got my Hybrid premium on 12/3, did a 600 mile break in, and then a 3000 mile road trip. I think I averaged about 72-74 miles an hour and got 19.6 in ECO mode. Only two people and stuff. I was hoping for a little better. Maybe it will improve slightly as it breaks in more.
I did remove the air dam right away. I assumed I would end up breaking that off pretty quickly on some dirt tracks.

I am a mile shy of 20K. Mostly ECO mode and 87 octane.
Tracking tank fill ups since approx.: 600 miles

Stock Trailhunter, mostly 91 octane but some 88 as well, elevation average about 5k feet. The city/highway percentages can be ignored, I don't use the slider on fuelly. Most of my driving is interstate.

TRD Pro, ~4700 miles, ECO mode, 87 octane, commuting about 60 miles per day mixed city/hwy traffic, not aggressive driving. In the summer I was getting ~21/22 mpg. Now since winter hit New England, I’m at 19.6/19.7 mpg.
Has anyone tried or know anyone who has used those “performance chips” that are advertised to gain 2-3 mpg (I.e. “evolvchips”)?? Are they legit, or bogus?

IMO if those chips worked Toyota would already be using something like that.

Sorry if I missed it but any mpg data from people running 35s?
I can answer for 34s (well 33.7s). See entry above. Its gotten worse with cold and TPMS issue limiting engine shutdown on my Hybrid ORP - will post another update at some point.

TRD ORP Hybrid - Normal mode
Air Dam on; OEM wheels/tires: 22 MPG average over 17 fill-ups and ~ 6k miles
Air dam off; TRD PRO wheels w/ 285/70R18 Toyo A/T III E-load (57#): 18 MPG average over 8 fill-ups and 2.4k miles - includes 3.4% milage adjustment to account for difference in tire size (i.e., odometer correction)

Bottom line: bigger heavier tires reduced milage by 4 MPGs on average. And reduce total 19 gal range by ~ 75 miles (~418 to 342)

Thanks. i’d expect a few less mpgs w 35s then. Maybe 16mpg avg.

i think this is a big deal for people building an overlanding rig as it begs the question do you really need 35s? Or would you prefer extra fuel range for your adventures?

I think your estimate is reasonable - since fitting 35s almost certainly means lifting the rig which will result in increased air resistance (in addition to the rolling resistance and rolling weight increase from the 35s). And range is the right question for folks to be considering. (I guess the hard core overlanders will carry lots of extra fuel) - I've done a bunch of one day off-road excursions and have fueled up on the way every time - don't want to find myself on fumes on the trail.

I can confirm for you that with my Pro lifted on WCD lift, 35" Baja Boss tires, Prinsu Pro Rack (yes, these racks make a huge difference in MPG decrease because of drag), Rago steel bumper, my MPG currently is 15.6.

That said, I'm getting 15.6 now with 73lbs Baja Boss' in load D (35x12.5r18). My other 35s were Recon Grapplers in SL load and only weighed 53lbs each (295/70/18). When I had my Recons, my MPG was 17.1.

35s come in many variations and affect MPG widely. What matters is weight and width. Choose wisely based on what you prioritize (looks vs function, etc).

Yeah, many people do not realize how much heavier 35s are - and especially given the load rating they may be choosing. That may also result in a need to make changes to shock/spring rates, having to re-gear your transmission, as well as a huge impact on MPGs, acceleration, braking and handling.
This is why it is best to stick with the factory options as they have been properly tested/vetted to work as is, under warranty.
The Goodyear Wrangler Territory 35s are C rated and weigh 52lbs. (stock on Sasquatch Broncos). The lightest K03s in 35 are over 63 lbs! Interestingly WT4s are 75lbs in C rating, but looking at the specs they have deeper tread depth than the others - which means more rubber = more mass obviously. So there is a lot to consider.

I have noticed after I put my Prinsu rack on my mpg dropped from 19.9 to 19.3/19.4 under same driving patterns. I've been using 91 octane in Colorado.
