Due to offroading and lack of rain in my area I decided to check my battery filters. Glad I did. Unfortunately I didn't think about doing a writeup until after I was done so I have no before pics. Take my word, not only was the filters dirty but the tube and foam leading down to the fan were coated. The Toyota parts manager said they had a hybrid in this week with a overheating battery and when they took the covers off they found the filters clogged with dog hair. These fans really move some air, do not recommend driving on dusty road with rear window down...

Part Number: G92DH-34010 / G92DJ-34010

What they look like:

Where their located behind second row seats, one on each side:

To Remove, just use a panel removal tool or a flathead screw driver with a piece of tape over the blade and work the lower outer corner so you can grab it. Once corner is out, give a careful firm tug and it'll pop out and should come free, Note the upper tabs that go behind the top piece.

New filter in place. To reinstall just put the top tabs under the top shelf and pop back in. Very simple, took 20 minutes.

just like the filter behind the glove box for the hvac system, these should be replaced/serviced at the same time.

since they are both filtering cabin air/dirt/dust, they will foul up at roughly the same time

btw the HV manual pg 555 shows you how to service the filters for the hybrid.

funny how it doesn't suggest replacing them right off the bat

Yes these 4Runners suck in some serious air/dust from the rear WDW. I don't think my 3rgen was that bad...
Thanks for the write up! Just got to keep up with those filters.

Great info., Thanks!

BTW, Does anyone know the OEM Toyota part number for the Cabin and Engine air filters, 2025 4Runner Hybrid? I get mixed results when searching for the correct part numbers.

Changed mine after my 5K checkup. They noted they checked it but it smelt musty. When I opened it up it was dirty. Complained to Dealership that if I can't trust them to check a simple filter, what else can't I trust them about.

Sorry, guess I did not supply enough information. Looking for parts numbers for Cabin and Engine air filters for 2025 4Runner Trailhunter (Hybrid). The air filter is 'round' similar to a K&N SE-0930.

Thanks

Great advice and appreciate the pics/tutorial.
I'm only a couple hundred miles in so still learning but I NEVER even considered that there were filters back there. Completely makes sense though

Seems like the admins of this page should start cataloging all these standard mantinance parts in one place to make it easy to find later. For example: Oil filter part number, drain plug O-ring part number, Drain plug part number, cabin filter part number, Hybrid filter part number, cabin light replacement numbers, battery.. etc.. Put them in the Wiki, or a forum thread.. something..

I have 6K total and a couple hundred offroad, majority of offroad wasn't that dusty though. I'm putting them on my 5K maintenance check list.

Edit: it didn't take long to realize having the rear window, really any window down except the sunroof slide open on any kind of dusty road is a bad idea.

My understanding after doing research and searching together w/ dealer parts desk (this was a few months back)
The TH engine air intake filter is reusable. Like a K & N filter type. Toyota sells the kit or use others.
Hard to find even the Taco TH filter.
I'm gonna check mine soon at 10K
