Anyone have trouble with pairing up their HomeLink and Garage openers? I'm pretty tech savvy and these 2 aren't pairing up at all... and Yes I have used the HomeLink website.

1. press the learn button on the motor
2. press the button you want to learn that door inside the vehicle

(you have to be fast on step 1 and 2, usually you have about 20-30 secs for step 1 and 2)

3. press the remote button that opens that door while pressing the learn button on the vehicle

after about 10-15 seconds the button on the vehicle should flash green

test

edit : caveat, i could have the procedures backwards also, its been so long. you may have to do the remote transmitter first then the motor learning

thats is the procedure i used on my garage doors for my 14 4R and 23 tundra

YES.. Usually you don't need your remote if you have a rolling code opener. I had to program mine using the learn button on the opener and then using the clicker, following the instructions that the 4Runner gave me. It worked the first time on my Sport premium. I think it was actually giving me instructions on the digital rear view mirror.

it really depends on your garage door model, i have an overhead garage door so mine are pretty simple per the website printable instructions

the buttons or the mirror homelink instructions are the same. the buttons are homelink also. they just moved them off the mirror

It worked for me but like others have said I had to look up the specific order of operations because it is heavily dependent on not only the manufacturer of the opener but the model

  • use a remote to train the homelink button
    • push the remote button and the homelink button you want to learn that remote code
  • push the learn on the garage motor housing (usually a light will blink for 30 secs to learn a new remote)
  • push the button you trained on homelink (press it about every 1 sec to train the motor housing, usually 3 pushes)

should work after that

The only way I got it to work is to use a new Liftmaster branded or Chamberlain remote. I had several non-branded openers (think Amazon) that would not pair to the Homelink button in the 4R. After a day of frustration, I bought the Liftmaster version (any opener in the Chamberlain group will work) and it paired immediately. It must be that the car only recognizes the latest chipset or firmware in the opener.

Edit: This should work for 95% of all garage doors openers as most are manufactured by Chamberlain Group. https://chamberlaingroup.com/our-brands

I have found Toyota brand vehicles the worst for pairing with home link. Same garage door opener, Chevy , Ford, Kia, Hyundai no issues. Toyota and Lexus PIA. I have got to work but it seems like the instructions don't quite work as expected.
