I started doing something like this and started grabbing stuff a few months ago. I have been trying out the Kock Chemie products. I am currently using Gsf (Gentle Snow Foam) and so far, I really like the stuff. I plan on trying Gs (Green Star) next in a foam cannon for the times the vehicle is super grimed up. I recently, grabbed the Waterdrop Spotless water deionizer and I have since stopped using my Ego 615 blower and drying towels as I just leave the water to air dry now.

Koch Chemie makes some good products. I’ve only tried Pol Star and so far I like it. Going to test out letting my car air dry. You’re the second person I’ve heard mentioning that when using deionized water.

I just did it yesterday on a nice sunny 70 degree day. Just make sure to give it a really good final rinse with the deionized water.

Loving the 4R Limited and now finally have a proper detailing setup to routinely care for it and others. My focus has been to simplify the chemicals/towels and detailing process I use but also upscaling the hardware. I know there’s a lot of chemicals pictured but I really use about 5 routinely (soap, waterless wash, interior detailer, tire shine, and window cleaner). Others are for deeper cleaning and decontaminating.

I’ve always liked detailing my own cars and had a modest setup but now having something a little more robust just inside my shop door has me excited to give it a try….if it’ll just stop raining!! Lol! Anyway, anyone else like to detail their cars instead of using the drive through? Curious to see what others’ setups.

Understandable if it’s not something you enjoy. Mobile detailers are charging quite a bit (~$80) where I’m at, so put on some music and do it myself. I do most things around my home anyway, unless it gets more involved, especially with electrical or plumbing. Will be flushing our tankless water heaters this coming weekend…I’m starting to sound like Frank the Tank going to Home Depot

Exactly! Haha! Just happened to me about a week ago. Washed both mine and my wife’s just to have it start raining the next day. Oh well!

Dang, those are amazing setups! Mine is lucky to get washed at all...I have had it a year now and I think I have done it once. Not that it counts much, but I have wanted to do it again for a while...


Dry Southern CA though, so mostly just dust--definitely no mud. So, it actually stays pretty clean. I blow out the interior once in a while.

Project Farm (YouTube guy that does some pretty good product testing) just (last few days) tested foaming washing solutions, including the ones mentioned here. MIght be worth a look. He also tested a bunch of DIY ceramic coatings a while back.

Lots of cool ideas and products! I get a bit more enthusiastic when I have a new vehicle but it sits outside under Douglas Firs and pitch is a huge DAILY problem. I'm experimenting with different products - I got a couple more coming this week. In the past a product called Gel Break was about the only thing I've used that was able to remove dried sap, after letting it sit for awhile. I got it from my carpet cleaner. It's used for removing gum from carpets - probably other stuff too.
On a daily basis there are tiny drops that create a rough surface but when I see blobs that triggers me to clean.
I would like a better solution (pun intended)

I suggest a cover /. One of those garage things, not a car cover (although the latter would work too).

I wonder if a ceramic coating would at least help in cleaning it off? I have been using Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions, as it is inexpensive and works pretty well. ProjectFarm tested a bunch of ceramic coatings, and an older review found this one very good (not better than the ones 10x as expensive, but still impressive). He has done more recent reviews and Griot has been doing extremely well--and is nearly as inexpensive. When I run out of Hybrid Solutions I will mitrate to that unless I decide to go for the high-end stuff (which is, admittedly, supposed to last much longer so maybe not that much more in the long run). It does a good job making the surface slick so I would think it woud help.
