I think there's a difference between using water and high pressure water. I don't see how you can effectively clean your engine bay without at least a water rinse.

I agree. As long as a person uses common sense there shouldn't be a problem.

There's just something about looking at a gaggle of hoses and wires and trying to put them all together in your head! Oh What a Feeling!

I'm proud to show off my engine bay! Cool mods don't all have to be where they can be seen by passengers and passers by.

I love looking at my engine!! It is a work of engineering passion.
My thoughts too.

it's fun to lift the hood and show people the amazing engineering of this hybrid engine. My only mod there are the hood struts instead of the support rod. But right now it's so dusty in there and that's the reason for my original question......can I wash off that dirt or do I need to completely keep water out of the engine bay and use a leaf blower or something?

It's fine to give it a light spritzing.
At the local spray it yourself car wash I use the spot free mode.
It is a very light spritzing and it rinses off the engine bay with spot free water. Then dry off with my leaf blower. I would not use high pressure on any of the electrical fittings or any of those hybrid orange connectors.

The spot-free rinse is a good idea. I may do what I did with the previous three 4Runners I've owned. I'll use my at home pressure washer but use it from a distance so nothing gets blasted. I want my engine to look clean again, like yours.

If youre going to do that, try the pressure washer wand but with the pressure washer off. Mine just sprays a light mist when its off

I just go down to the local self-serve coin car wash and use the spot free Mode which is a low pressure spritzing.

I've done that with my last three 4Runners. When I sold my third gen it had an almost new appearance in the engine bay. I regret selling that one. The 5th gen not so, this new 6th gen is a whole different Beast.

I am toying with the idea of getting a set of wheel well liners from Ark. I hear this keeps a lot of that dirt and debris out of the engine bay when running down a cow Trail.

Good idea. Mine does the same. I'll see if that's enough to spiff up the engine.
