Hey all,

As some of you may know, I posted here a few days ago about my deposit I put in for a 6th gen SR5 in Underground..

However another local dealer has offered to match the numbers for a very similarly spec’d 25’ SR5 in Cutting Edge.

Originally I never considered the Cutting Edge option, but seeing it in person has changed my mind. It definitely looks pretty sharp, especially since there’s a nice contrast of the silver against the black fender flares.

Just looking for some input here! Decisions, decisions..

Thanks!

Color choices are subjective, so you should go with the one you like best. i personally don’t like lighter colors, so the silver would be out for me.

What Stigma just said above. Lots of complaints from Tacoma owners regarding the underground color paint quality. Awful swirls, scratches by just looking at it and easily chips. I love the color but have decided I will not be getting underground for this reason.

Honestly, if I knew how easily the paint chipped on these 4runners I'd may have gone with cutting edge or white over the underground that I did.
Oh wow, really? I didn’t know paint chipping was an issue specifically with the underground?

I actually deliberately avoided white because I assumed the front end would be littered with black specs from paint chips..

Cutting edge is amazing. The silver is a good color for hiding imperfections and getting the paint ceramic coated makes it pop. Plus the silver looks amazing with body graphics such as vintage strips which should arrive anyday. Add dark tinted windows, bam!

If I were to do it again, I would’ve gotten white or the silver. The underground looks amazing but it’s thin like eggshell, swirls easily and chips.

Not sure if it's specific to underground but more-so darker paint. On the drive home from the dealer, I got two small chips down to bare metal. I repaired with Dr. color chip so that helped and will be putting clear paint protection film on the front to hopefully help.

It's my first Toyota and apparently it's pretty common with their paint. In the end get whatever color you like the most! It'll be thin paint no matter which way you go!

I bought the 6th gen TRD Sport Premium. Was getting Heritage Blue but changed to Wind Chill Pearl. I like this color a lot.

I like both colors but went with Cutting Edge after seeing both of them in person (the Grand Highlander is Wind Chill Pearl).

Found my 1st chip the other day, I was stuck on 3 color choices and the bang for buck made the decision for me. If both are identical in accessories and out the door price, my vote is cutting edge. Ive seen alot of underground and understand why that color is so popular. I just wanted to stand out a bit

Cutting edge - easier to keep clean.
Love both colours but agree the SR5 looks great in cutting edge with the black fender flares
