My speculation is that the TRD Lift kit includes them for gas only trims, and that they're already in place on hybrid trims/models.
This is not true. I have the Hybrid, definitely needed them.

this extended axle thing is interesting...because it brings to light that other non oem lifts might actually need these new axles if you are going with something like OME MT64, etc.

I was looking at OME MT64 and a diff drop was included in the quote from a reputable off-road shop to go with the full OME MT64 kit (2135K) - I think the longer (and slightly beefier) axels in the Toyota TRD Lift kit (plus the beefier knuckles) are a better solution for overcoming the CV angle issue. That and the Toyota warranty on the parts and install made the difference for me. If the Bilstein's ever wear out I can imagine replacing with the MT64s.

I thought I had posted the following in this thread but cannot find it above so sharing in case anyone did not see the phot evidence of difference in axels with my TRD ORP Hybrid:

The TRD Lift Kit ( Part Number: PTCCY-89310/89320) does come with axels that are longer than those that came off my TRD ORP.
I do not know whether the THunter/Pro come with the longer axel or not but here is the part number for the axels from the TRD Lift Kit installation guide - you might find the stock THunter part number by searching Toyota parts site to see if its the same.
SHAFT ASSY, FR DRIVE, RH 43410-AK020

Axel length difference: about 2 inches (30" - 28")

Yep. Which is why it is crazy to go with any other lift. You cannot beat the value here.

Can anyone speak to the performance on washboard / corduroy on fireroads? Really digging this thread. Was planning on waiting for the Bilstein 8112s but now seriously considering this TRD kit.

I've found the Tacoma CV axles on some trims are the exact part numbers included in the 2.5" TRD lift, interestingly.

The ride is improved with the TRD Lift Kit over the stock TRD ORP Bilstein's. I'm not sure how much the spring change matters vs. the "upgraded" Bilstein shocks, but there is a definite improvement from the overly stiff stock suspension. My wife noticed it so I think it is real. Noticeably smoother on small bumps - and more articulation range for big rocks (which was my motivation).

I appreciate the detailed review. The streets where I live are worn and bumpy, and I do enough driving on fire roads so the small bump compliance is important to me, but so is better articulation over rocks for camping.

My guess would be the majority of the ride improvements are due to valving since they were tuned by Bilstein. During my MTB days I sent a shock to Fox to tune for my specific bike, and they revalved (changed the shim stack) and changed the oil viscosity. Same spring. The improvement was night and day.

I feel the same, I immediately noticed a difference. Much smoother ride, takes the trails and obstacles like a champ.

2026 Toyota 4Runner TRD Offroad Premium Hybrid & 2025 Land Cruiser Premium
Hey everyone! Glad to be part of the group.

Over the weekend, I purchased a 2026 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium Hybrid in Underground. I'm located in the 75035 area of Frisco, Texas.

My wife drives a 2025 Land Cruiser Premium, and when we parked the two side by side, we both thought the 4Runner looked a little too low in comparison. Naturally, that led me down the rabbit hole of suspension upgrades!

I went online to Toyota Parts and ordered the factory lift kit, Part #PTCCY-89320. Fortunately, Toyota was running a 25% off sale, which saved me $749.75. My final out-the-door price, including Texas sales tax, was $2,434.81. Unfortunately, that sale ended yesterday!

I found a local shop that specializes in truck and SUV lifts, and they've quoted me $640 for the installation, not including the alignment, which I'll have done separately.

I have a couple of questions for those of you who have experience with these upgrades:

1. Factory Warranty: Toyota advertises this as a factory lift kit specifically designed for the 4Runner and indicates that it will maintain the factory warranty. However, does that warranty protection remain intact if the kit is installed by an independent, qualified shop rather than a Toyota dealership? I'd rather not pay the dealership premium if there's no warranty advantage to doing so. Has anyone had experience with this?

2. Factory Tires: I'm also considering replacing the factory Michelin LTX Trail 265/70R18 tires with Falken Wildpeak 275/70R18s once the lift is installed. Is there much of a resale market for nearly new factory tires? Mine will probably have only a couple hundred miles on them when I take them off. Has anyone sold theirs, and what would be a realistic asking price?

I appreciate any advice, firsthand experiences, or recommendations, particularly from anyone in the North Dallas/Frisco area. Looking forward to learning from everyone and seeing what others have done with their 4Runners!

Sold my 5 ORP OEM Falken Wildpeak tires with 400 miles on Craigslist locally. Spare was unused. Asked for $500, sold for $400 to get them out of our garage.

For 1., your dealer should charge you $1275.
There is some co-pay that Toyota does since it is a licensed accessory.

You need it installed by a franchised dealer to maintain your warranty, and no indy shop is going to charge less than that.

It's a no brainer!

Sell your OEM wheels on facebook market.
