I've done a bunch of mods (guess I should create a build post at some point) but will keep this to just a few highlights both positive and less so....
Useful addition well worth cost:
- Cargo Lights PT94489260c0 - ~$250
- Cargo tray all weather mat PT908-89256-02 - $130 (seems I'm an outlier here but its easy to pull out and clean and has done a great job for me)

Things I might do differently:
- to avoid rubbing experience I would probably go with 275/70/18s on TRD PRO wheels - in C load if available, instead of the 285/70/18s I bought - I like the look and the slightly added clearance but the weight (and impact on MPG/range) is .... maybe not worth it.
- would probably go with aftermarket low profile rack instead of the OEM cross-bars (PT97089251; $320)
- Toyota integrated Dash Cam (PT94934222; $360) - it is fine - and integrates nicely, but ... its just meh and more $$ than after market.

I forget that I added the following:

  • Lasfit LED lamps - White. (I have Amber too but preferred white) - Very happy with them
  • 8" Screen protector - I cannot remember the brand buy very popular on here. Worth it I guess.
  • I lined many of the hard plastic storage areas with a rubber shelf liner product. Some stuck in with double sided tape (cannot see it). Others just cut to size. - Free, I had the product.
No costly options or upgrades planned. Possible new truck in my future (1-2 years) so saving the pennies.

Great to know on the tire size! I had the rear cargo lights in my first 6th and really liked the. I need to add those back to my list of ā€˜to dos’. I keep trying to find an oem takeoff tack in TN but no dice, maybe it’s time to see what else is out there.

The only thing I've ever regretted doing to any vehicle was putting bigger tires on it just for looks.

Messes with speedo, odo, and can really mess with transmission behavior. Toyota is locked down enough to make correcting for large tires an issue not easily or cheaply corrected.

My only minor regret is going for +20mm offset wheels with 285s, which stick out just enough to spray rocks onto my extremely chippable black paint. Love the look though and it was the only option in the wheels I wanted, so I'll live with. Already got the wider mudflaps and am considering the extra wide fender flares to cover them. I think +35 is definitely the sweet spot.

I've reached that magical $$$ of mods on my ORP where I'm fast approaching the "could have just bought a TRD Pro" status, which I have mixed thoughts about. Would have saved me on several upgrades, but I didn't want the added weight or diminished cargo capacity of the hybrid, so still pretty happy with my choice. Mostly salty about not having dual zone climate control or soft touch doors, but I can live with it.

Yeah but those wheels look sooooo good on your build. Dual climate should absolutely have been standard on the sport and off road premium trims. The ā€˜hard’ doors didn’t bother me as much as not having it. Like both sides get heated and cooled seats but we have to risk a happy home fighting over the thermostat? Crazy town. They could have offered rear climate as an upper trim boost if they still needed a differentiator. I bet you would have still dropped money on the pro too though so maybe not an apples to apples $$$ comparison against the Pro purchase price. That’s what I’m telling myself at least 🤔

I’d like to do 275/70r18 if I can’t find a set of cheap take offs. I see them pop up for $700-800 but before i can convince my wife that I won’t get murdered buying off FB marketplace they’re gone.

Thanks! Definitely agree dual zone should be standard on the ORP, and I for sure would have put a decent amount of $ into a TRD Pro regardless -- just smaller stuff mostly though. The poke really isn't extreme at all; from the look of it you'd think they'd be pretty well covered still, but the mud spray all up on my doors tells a different story.

The fact that Tacos get dual climate in the ORP and we don't really yanks my short hairs. The hard plastic doors ticked me off too, until I bought mine...And I immediately didn't care. My arm is perfectly comfortable on the plastic. It's a great height sill too.

Cheap takeoff wheels or tires?

The 20-25% off Toyota sale for Black Friday had me less than $800 for a set of bronze Trailhunter wheels. I want to say it was under 700, but I bought TH grill, tow hooks, and other things while I was at it, and can't remember lol

I regret NOT adding a protector to the 8" dash screen immediately. I've dusted it maybe 5 times, always with microfiber, and it's scratched to shit. Looks fine until the sun catches it, then it looks like a mess.

I did add the Spigen matte protector to the 14" screen and it's been excellent. Super easy to install, no fluids needed, no bubbles or glare, and barely shows a fingerprint. Highly recommend. Unfortunately they still don't make a matching one for the smaller screen. I'm hoping I can find a similar matte one that'll hide the scratches somewhat.

For real. Next time they go on sale I’m going to pull the trigger. I figured if it could get some take offs for cheap I could rock them until the next sale and then maybe just swap rims until the tires needed replacing. A guy can dream.

Same thing is happening to my cluster. I hate myself for not doing something there. I also have a gnarly gash in my gear indicator in the console. Not even sure what shenanigans lead to that but it laughs in my face daily.

I dropped a pair of shears on my console lid the DAY I bought my brand new Tundra. Poked a hole in the top of it. It's still there, right now, 13 years later...I was staring at it yesterday :D

Oh I remembered one more thing I regret based on comments here, I regret getting the anti-glare matte screen protector from screenprotech. I know I’m weird, but in direct light all is does is completely wash out the display making it impossible to see anything. At least with the regular protect screen can still see it other than some glare. I went back to the regular after removing the matte one, easier for me to see.

I’m weird, I know.
