Anyone have any insight into the purpose of the dash switch AC On? It seems like the climate settings activate the AC as needed for a given temperature setting. What’s the switch there to do?

I’ve noticed in my ORP single zone climate system. After startup, the system will blow cold air even with the a/c light off but if I cycle the light on then off, it will turn the compressor off and blow air that isn’t cold.Anyone have any insight into the purpose of the dash switch AC On? In my ‘25 Sport Prem, if the system is off and I turn the fan dial, the a/c compressor kicks on and the air blows cold (if the temp was set low before the system was turned off). The a/c indicator light on the switch does not come on. If I activate the switch, the light turns on but nothing else changes. If I hit the switch again, the light goes off, the fan slows and the air warms up. Clearly the compressor is deactivated. It’s odd, but I just roll with it.Anyone have any insight into the purpose of the dash switch AC On? It seems like the climate settings activate the AC as needed for a given temperature setting. I'd imagine there are those that don't want to use Auto, so not completely. So basically, the AC switch does nothing except take space on the dashboard.
