By "adding 10A load to the original ignition" meaning to the power coming to the fuse block? That is what I am trying to make clear to myself. If that, I agree. That extra current, though, should not be pulling through the original fuse.

you're not wrong, and that's where the sequence of events is a bit hazy. Regardless, the customer claims that fuse was indeed blown, and it coincided with the poor running and eventual stalling of the 4runner.

Would be nice if the admin folks could keep this current. IMO it is must reading.
Apply's to every aspect of new vehicles, electrical and mechanical.
