Went to a local dealership in MD. I live in the Eastern Shore and was quoted $50,119 OTD with taxes and fees. They had presold a Sr5 that I was interested in. Went to dealership last night to see if I could test drive a new arrival but trucker was late so I didn’t get to test drive. I was told it would be ready for test drive around 12PM today. Got a message from salesperson saying it was sold today around 12PM. Offered me another Sr5 that hasn’t arrived yet then says it’s been sold within 2 hours. Now he sent me another Sr5. Seems like they can’t keep them on the lot, high demand and says he cant negotiate thousands off due to high demand and low stock. Thoughts on a good OTD for this?

There is a big thread about what people are actually paying in the forum if you search. Many are getting discounts and it varies by region. 45,500 seems OK for an sr5. I found a couple sr5 for 43k when i was looking in the Midwest and bought my trd offroad for 49+ttl.

I'm going through the same process as you right now, and I think if you put a little work in, you can do better. The offer your salesman is giving you is the same offer on the website (easy to find) and won't be delivered until mid-July anyway.

Don't buy into the "high demand" BS your salesman is feeing you on an SR5; it's true to a certin extent but he's mostly yanking your chain. I went through a dealer and got the same shpiel - apparently 3 such vehicles were sold before he could get a swap in. I dumped him and started shopping around - seriously this time - and landed a 2x better discount than previously neogtiated...I just have to wait and hope for another month that all turns up well.

Check out these resources as well to get an idea of the market:

Shop around other dealers. Your not glued to that specific one. I'm sure other have SR5's available and I'm sure you can do better than $1500 off. You should be able to get closer to $2500 or more from a in stock unit for a SR5.

Each build is different. Then port options. I think 4k off msrp on a SR5 is a reasonable expectation to target. Basically what I got 6mo back.

OTD is only useful to compare to someone purchasing in the same zip code as you. As for sales price, I'd target 4-7% off MSRP and no dealer add-ons. PIOs can also be removed from the sticker if caught before they're installed at the port and your dealer is cooperative.

Out the door is going to vary from state to state...so you should ask for just MD. Like 6.5% tax in MD, in NC it is only 3%, so BIG difference in out the door. My 6 Gen stickered for $48,112 and I paid $42,567. Really like anything else depends on supply and demand. If people are willing to pay more and they sell fast you are not going to get a good deal. In my experience you should wait until the end of the year to when they are clearing out the 2026s to get ready for 2027s. Don't be opposed to driving several hundered miles out of state ot get one if need be. I have driven from NC to MD to buy a car to get a good deal in the past and broke it in driving home.

Purchased my Limited 4WD (gas) at Oursman Toyota (Edgewood, MD) via email (I'm in NJ). They were great. OTD was $62,500. NJ has similar taxes to MD, minimal options: no 3rd row, rear LED lights, door edge guard and digital key. Shop around and be patient. I also used chatGPT to craft my emails (big help in playing the buying game back and forth)!

just go to kbb and price a new model/trim out. once you get to the final page scroll down to find the invoice price with the options you selected.

you should shoot for that price for the vehicle before you even talk trade or down payment.

i always get invoice in writing guaranteed but that just me and the relationship i have with my dealer.

my platinum with options was msrp $67,843 with DPH and $63,114 at invoice. before trade and my $1000 deposit.

just a note, my DPH was $1495, DPH now is $1595

link in my sig to my deal

I recently got a quote on a TRD Off-Road Premium MAX. Got 7% off advertised price. Keep the extra fees out of it. Doc fee, registration, title prep, inspection sticker, taxes etc. Every dealership has them. Keep it simple, work on discounting off the full suggested retail. The retail price varies a lot depending on options. Every Trim starts with the same exact MSRP then the options are added on, so you can’t really compare one dealer to the next on just price. So if one is listed at $40,000 and another is $45,000 because it has a lot more options you can’t really compare. Work on percentage off list price, without the standard fees. Then it’s as easy as saying dealer A is discounting at 3%. So go to dealer B and ask them what they can do. That’s what I did and got it up to 7%. Hope that makes sense. Good luck!
