Went to a local dealership in MD. I live in the Eastern Shore and was quoted $50,119 OTD with taxes and fees. They had presold a Sr5 that I was interested in. Went to dealership last night to see if I could test drive a new arrival but trucker was late so I didn’t get to test drive. I was told it would be ready for test drive around 12PM today. Got a message from salesperson saying it was sold today around 12PM. Offered me another Sr5 that hasn’t arrived yet then says it’s been sold within 2 hours. Now he sent me another Sr5. Seems like they can’t keep them on the lot, high demand and says he cant negotiate thousands off due to high demand and low stock. Thoughts on a good OTD for this?

There is a big thread about what people are actually paying in the forum if you search. Many are getting discounts and it varies by region. 45,500 seems OK for an sr5. I found a couple sr5 for 43k when i was looking in the Midwest and bought my trd offroad for 49+ttl.

I'm going through the same process as you right now, and I think if you put a little work in, you can do better. The offer your salesman is giving you is the same offer on the website (easy to find) and won't be delivered until mid-July anyway.

Don't buy into the "high demand" BS your salesman is feeing you on an SR5; it's true to a certin extent but he's mostly yanking your chain. I went through a dealer and got the same shpiel - apparently 3 such vehicles were sold before he could get a swap in. I dumped him and started shopping around - seriously this time - and landed a 2x better discount than previously neogtiated...I just have to wait and hope for another month that all turns up well.

Check out these resources as well to get an idea of the market:

Shop around other dealers. Your not glued to that specific one. I'm sure other have SR5's available and I'm sure you can do better than $1500 off. You should be able to get closer to $2500 or more from a in stock unit for a SR5.

he’s only giving me $500 off. I’m trying to see if I can get running boards and floor liners discounted

Each build is different. Then port options. I think 4k off msrp on a SR5 is a reasonable expectation to target. Basically what I got 6mo back.

OTD is only useful to compare to someone purchasing in the same zip code as you. As for sales price, I'd target 4-7% off MSRP and no dealer add-ons. PIOs can also be removed from the sticker if caught before they're installed at the port and your dealer is cooperative.
