“OMG Stop Beeping at me!!”. How do I mute or muffle the door and hatch beeps?

I just wanted to bump this post back to the top in hopes someone has found a fix to mute these beeps. I am so frustrated by this issue, it really kills the whole vibe of the truck.

Stop to get my mail, BEEP BEEP BEEP

Need to run into the gas station real quick, BEEP BEEP BEEP!

Loading my rig to head to the range, BEEP BEEP BEEP!

Picking up my buddies at the airport, BEEP BEEP BEEP!

Stop to grab something out of the rear passenger department, BEEP BEEP BEEP!

I hate this, I truly, truly hate this…

Keep your key fob inside if you’re just grabbing mail or stuff from the garage. It won’t lock as long as it’s inside, and no beeps

as stated quit taking the fob outside the vehicle

you do know the fob fits perfect between the cup holder clips

I understand what is causing it, I just don’t get why they won’t let us stop it from happening by allowing owners to disable that “feature”.

My PowerWagon and my F150 never made me leave the fob in the running vehicle. In fact I could even (SHOCK HORROR!) lock the doors with either of them still running with myself and my fob outside of the cab!

I just find it a bit patronizing that my vehicle thinks it is smarter than me.
Maybe it is, but I am still very annoyed.

its not smarter, just annoying due to lawyers and liability issues

I love my new 4Runner, I really do, but the loud and annoying beeps are driving me crazy. The ones emitted by the back hatch opening or closing or whenever I get out to fetch my mail with my fob in my pocket (and the door closes). I’m literally waking my neighbors whenever I need to access the hatch on early mornings.

How can I stop this? I see no way to do it in the settings menu. Is there a hardware fix? Where is that speaker so I can suppress it with tape or kill it altogether?

Its literally in the settings dude take a deep breath and scroll through your settings or you can search it here on the forum Top Right of page S E A R C H (enter your questions there)....and you're not waking your neighbors calm down.

Already turned down my volume for all my beeps that are accessible especially the hatch and locking doors.

But yesterday:

I was at the Depot and Hauling some doors, I was able to lower the hatch and then stop it. That was all hunky dory, but when I started to drive the beeping started telling me that my hatch was open.

Is there some other way other than the dealer (charge$$) going in and controlling that?

I carry a lot of stuff in my 4Runner that requires the hatch just to be a little bit open.
I have a pair of Thule Evo crossbars , but I didn't feel like lifting doors on the roof and then having to strap them down .

It was so much easier just to lay them in the back, but just not being able to completely close the hatch door.

And I just realized there's no area on the rear hatch to lash it down! All of the control is on those automatic Electric struts. I sure hope all these safety features don't bite us in the Arse!

Yeah I'm beyond it, like I mentioned I occasionally have things that just stick out a little bit too far but I have figured out a work around.
