Mine too!
That was a new development on the 3rd or 4th attempt at a "fix" that did not do previously on the original few sets of brakes. The backward screech is less now, still consistently there, but not as loud/long lasting, but, now, occasionally does it going forward while cold/first few minutes.Mine too!Occassionally when going forward too.
You're very fortunate. What year do you have?I got a screech just once backing up on my SR5. 10,000 miles now, silent. It screeched at
me around mile 6000 or so backing up. I back up daily and that one screech was horrible. but none since. weird
Where did you get it done?I'm on day 5 with getting the TSB done and no squeels yet. Will see if it holds.
Cedar Park Toyota squeezed me in.Where did you get it done?
Hello fellow Texan. I'm a Houstonian. How long did it take them to fix the issue for you?Cedar Park Toyota squeezed me in.
They had my 10k service done and the brake TSB in about 2 and a half hours. They didn't need to rotate my tires since I just got new and I had already done my cabin and hybrid air filters.Hello fellow Texan. I'm a Houstonian. How long did it take them to fix the issue for you?
Did they shed any further light on WTH the brakes are squealing like dying banshees? They had my 10k service done and the brake TSB in about 2 and a half hours. They didn't need to rotate my tires since I just got new and I had already done my cabin and hybrid air filters.
The service manager I chatted with, Bob, was really kind on the phone and I can't believe he squeezed me in. He said 130 people are waiting on parts, but he stole the parts from a 2WD waiting on rotors. He was off the day I went so I didn't get to talk to him more, but I'd have to imagine you're probably right. I am curious why the 2WD need new rotors too.Did they shed any further light on WTH the brakes are squealing like dying banshees?
I was told it biked down to a change in the brake pad material.
I'm curious why it would need rotors also. I've got to get mine scheduled in to be repaired. I'm pushing it to close to 10,000 so they can do the tire rotation at the same time as the 10k miles service. I was previously told by an Asst Service Mgr that the squeal is not causing any damage to anything...its just annoying AF. I assume that it's correct now that you've shared your story here about it. It doesn't sound like you had any damage done by waiting until near 10k miles. I'm going to drain & fill my RWD rear differential fluid myself at 15k then at 30k I'll pay the dealership to drain & fill the transmission fluid. The service manager I chatted with, Bob, was really kind on the phone and I can't believe he squeezed me in. lol it holds had mine done in may silent in reverse since.I'm on day 5 with getting the TSB done and no squeels yet. Will see if it holds.
Had my brake pads and changed oil in about a hour at Don McGill when i had my 4runner in for 10k service. I drove for about 4k miles with the reverse squeal to get to 10k incase i had to argue for new rotors. The guy at McGill said they rarely change rotors for this TSB unless there is a need to replace.Hello fellow Texan. I'm a Houstonian. How long did it take them to fix the issue for you?
I was told it was shims not installed on the pads...but unless you find a actual tech turning the wrench you will never really know why they have this issue. My daughter has a 2019 SR5 and i backed it up this morning and it had just a small squeak in reverse(like usual)... The '25 4runner would scream out the garage all the way down drive way changed pads and silent.I'm curious why it would need rotors also. I've got to get mine scheduled in to be repaired.
