What tires are those? Also, have you noticed any hit on mpg numbers? Just curious since you have the air dams off too. This is kinda how I want to run mine.
I also put the same tires on my 2025 ice cap 4Runner.
I don't ever get more than 16/17 miles per gallon no matter how I drive the vehicle. Love the way it looks, but it definitely changed to a lot more of a stiff ride and you definitely feel potholes and bumps more. And as for the gas mileage. Well, it is what it is. I didn't put larger tires on for better gas mileage.

Maan you’re telling me! I ended up with AT3s too and so far has only been a 1 mpg hit. Was 19.6 or so stock, sitting at 18.6 rn. Need to give it a few more weeks for the numbers to settle I reckon.

What is different about the SR5, that 285/70r17 is the largest tire that can fit without rubbing? That tire size is only .1" taller than what comes stock on the off-road, which has the same ride height as the SR5.
Is the SR5 built differently?

Struts? coils? Is the suspension geometry, hub assembly causing less "clearance"? I wonder if the front is the issue or the rear might be "lower" than on the non SR5's that don't seem to have any clearance issues?

I was going to talk to Westscott and see if they knew. Or maybe the dissent guys? 8runner guys might have some insight.

I am going to throw some bigger tires on the stock 17's when I get a chance and throw it up on the lift and see what is what, before installing the coilovers. I dont mind any cutting, trimming, massaging with a BFG to get things to clear. Especially on these basic bitch SR5's :)

it’s not the height. It’s the width. 285”s make the stock offroad tires look like pizza cutters. You’re talking 32.8 inch tires vs Toyotas (REALLY STRETCHING IT) 32.6 lol. Also 17”s are ideal. Toyota really messed up with 18’s except the sr5. I bought 2025 Tacoma trd offroad 17” wheels and had them powder coated all black to get rid of that stupid lip.
Lastly the sr5 comes with 245’s

That makes sense. I was not considering the affects of the tires on the stock wheels with stock wheel offset. The tire width could potentially hit the UCA.

The powder coated 17" TRD off-road wheels looks very good. They are a great looking wheel.... except for that machined aluminum lip.

Not sure why Toyota thought that was a good idea.

I powder coated the lip.
tire won’t hit the uca. Neither will 35’s

Quick picture.
2024 Tacoma trd off road wheels powder coated all black with Goodyear territory mt in 285/70/17. No rub…not even close. There is PLENTY of room in the wheel well!

not shown in the picture is the land cruiser front skid plate with the air dam removed.

fox 2.0 going on sometime after the holidays. Thanks to All Dogs Offroad!

Looks good, I like it and I’m planning to do the setup. My only concern is that technically, when upgrading to 285/70R17, we need to use 17x9 rims ( OEM is 17x7 inches ). Otherwise, experts say sticking with OEM rims will cause sidewall bulge and uneven wear. Have you taken this into consideration?
7.5 inch width is the minimum recommendation for 285’s. That being said I’ve run them on a 7 inch wide wheel. Sema trd pro wheels on a 5th gen zero issues for years.

Just saying.

I also just put 285/70/r17 tires on my stock height and rim SR5. No rubbing at all and rides smooth. Let me know if anyone has questions.

@JBaughman, are those the oem mudflaps? If so, you have no problems at all with the bigger tires, even with the wheels at a full turn like making a U-turn? No rubbing against the mud flaps?

I always wanted bigger tires that still fit with the oem mudflaps without a lift Kit.

when you get a chance, let us know. Thank you. Ride looks great!
