Not sure this helps, but my son has a Tacoma TRD Off-Road I-Force Max. He put on Nitto Recon Grappler 295/70r18 in Standard Load which are 52 lbs. His MPG is steady at 19 MPG now.
Also, Nitto (probably other brands too) make a 275/70r18 in Standard load that are about 46 lbs. Those are Terra...
I’m curious to see how many Pros actually sell in this color. Personally, I think it looks good, but it’s not something I’d choose—and I suspect a lot of others, especially those willing to pay for a Pro, might feel the same way.
That makes sense. I was not considering the affects of the tires on the stock wheels with stock wheel offset. The tire width could potentially hit the UCA.
The powder coated 17" TRD off-road wheels looks very good. They are a great looking wheel.... except for that machined aluminum lip.
Not...
What is different about the SR5, that 285/70r17 is the largest tire that can fit without rubbing? That tire size is only .1" taller than what comes stock on the off-road, which has the same ride height as the SR5.
Is the SR5 built differently?
I think the video is pointing shell's quality of fuel due to the additives. Not all fuel is created equal. He states Shell fuel with the additives, which they only put in the premium fuel, is the best fuel for a vehicle. That was due to the additives, not the octane level.
You can have crumby...
Does everyone just not understand that the octane an engine uses is based on its compression ratio?
87 vs 91 vs 93 isn't based on quality, it's based on octane.
If your engine doesn't have the compression to burn 91 or 93 and burn it more efficiently, you are wasting your money.
By some of the...
You have 285/70r17 in Load C (32.7" tall)
The 4runner comes with 265/70r18 in Standard Load SL (32.6" tall)
They are basically the same size tires.
The biggest difference is that you have heavier C load tires with a deeper tread depth. And that's not taking into account the specific trad...
I love this comment. Why buy the Pro? Because the resale value will be much better....but really....because the thing looks sick! Most of the things we use a 4runner for you could do with a Prius. Lots of leg room in a Prius. Way better MPG. Cheaper to replace tires. Other than pulling a...
@GabeFreeLunch after that long trip I'm curious your thoughts on Hybrid vs non-hybrid.
Are you happy you did NOT get the Max?
My thinking is I'd be happy either way for different reasons, but wanted to know your thoughts since you have actually driven enough to have a good take on it.
Loved the review LOL. After the first TLDR sentence, I had to read the whole thing.
The Nitto Ridge Grapplers you have. Are those 265/17r18? I could not quite tell from the photo if they are 265 or 285.
I love the look of Ridge Grapplers
I think your response is getting at my question. To me, there seems to be other benefits to the Pro besides the Fox shocks, like for instance the resale value. the wheels, and the viper cut front bumper which makes clearing larger tires with a wider offset (like the +20 offset that comes on the...
I agree the build looks cool, but what is the reason for starting with the Pro trim instead of an Off-road Premium with iForce Max if the plan was to remove the Fox suspension anyway?
I suppose, if you got the Pro, changed the shocks, and sold the Fox shocks, you come out relatively close to...
I love that color!
I am considering the 4runner in that color as well.
I was thinking I would put the Nitto Recon Grapplers 295/70r18 SL (standard Load) on the same wheels. Those tires only weigh 52 lbs.
I currently have the pervious version of those tires on my Tundra and my MPG remained at...
