Here are the videos showing the install of the VViViD Air Tint film I used to wrap my Rigid fog lights to selective yellow, and the follow up video showing the beam at night. I love selective yellow as I've always run that lens on my Baja Designs lights.

Wrap job took about 20-25 mins. Pretty easy install using this film.

My OCD though is creepin into my thoughts about the mismatch of the amber DRLs and Raptor lights and the selective yellow fog lights now...may pull them the off...may not. We'll see.

So, this post is for the benefit of the TRD Pro owners out there, but you'll have to believe my words as the pictures don't really show what it truly looks like. I haven't spent any time thinking about my fog lights until @papadop88 did a video of him putting a yellow tint on his fog lights. I watched the video (thanks @papadop88 for your content), but didn't really like how the yellow was different from the amber DRL's. But, it got me thinking that I thought it would be a good look if the fog lights were amber and matched the amber DRL's. Papadop88 let me know that Lamin-X does have amber fog light covers for the 4Runner. They were inexpensive (like $15), so I ordered them.

I put them on yesterday. Here's my thoughts. I do like them and I'm going to keep them on for now. They are amber, but they are not a perfect match. The fog lights, with the amber tint, are a lighter shade of amber than the DRL's. The DRL's are darker. I still like them and are going to keep them on, but they are two different shades of amber.

Here's where you are just going to have to trust me. I took a few pictures to post and in the pictures the fog lights look a lot more yellow than what they really are in real life. In real life they DO look amber, but are a lighter shade of amber than the DRL's. In the pictures they look more yellow than they are in real life. My phone camera did not do a good job capturing what they really look like, but I thought I'd make this post anyways in case anyone is interested. It's a cheap mod that you can easily take off if you don't like it and it's inexpensive.

Did you notice anything different when driving with the amber vs. the clear? Do they actually project as amber?

I just put them on yesterday, so I haven't really driven much with them yet. But in my driveway and garage it does make a small difference. Slightly less brightness, but not much. Nothing significant in my opinion. It projects more yellow than amber. I was about to say it could be a small hindrance if you do a lot of off-roading at night, but really if you are doing that your light bar will more than make up the difference. For mainly a mall-crawler like me, it'll have no difference.

I'd be interested in knowing if it performs the same as a amber lense in fog or rain, as you said, the lightbar will make up for it for off roading.

Ah, the million dollar question over the years. It's debatable. It also depends on individuals as all our eyes are different and see light different. For me, selective yellow is easy on my eyes and I adapt to it quickly. I cannot see crap with an amber color. I hate it. I had an amber roof light bar on my previous Pro and couldn't stand it. Never again for me.

If I want to see really far though, I love pure white light. So do my selective yellow fog lenses now perform better than my original white light? To me, yes, because I like the color better and they're fogs which aren't meant to relfect light too far away.

Honestly, it's all preference man. I just dig selective yellow, but will never go to a true amber lens. To me, amber doesn't help me see better.

As she sits today. I like looking at her.

These Recons ride so damn smooth because they're standard SLs 295/70/18s (53 lbs each, which are only 10lbs heavier than the original ones it came with) but I think I'm going to go beefier with true 35x12.5s to get a wider stance. The 295/70s are true 35s but skinnier. I want a true 12.5" tire. Think it would look better.

Westcott Designs Lift Kit for the TRD Pro has officially been installed. Thanks to everyone on here who posted theirs up. And big shoutout to Jeff and his team at Westcott for spending the time to sit with me on measurements, etc. And of course, 626 Customs for the flawless install.

The truck drives like a dream and the preload collar all but completely eliminated the famous nose dive.

I did NOT install the 1" top hats. As I suspected, it would have been too high for my taste with it installed. As you'll see my EXACT measurements, you will see that if I installed the top hats, they would have effectively given me an exact level and maybe even a reverse rake. Optically, it would have given me a reverse rake no matter what. And if I loaded up the back, it would unequivocally sagged my truck.

Everyone's rigs vary so take it for what it is, but these are my numbers:
(Measured from bottom of wheel/rim to bottom of fender)
  • Driver Front: 30.88" | 32.25" (1.37" lift)
  • Driver Rear: 31.75" | 32.62" (0.87" lift)
  • Pass Front: 30.88" | 32.62" (1.74" lift)
  • Pass Rear: 32.00" | 32.80". (0.80" lift)
As you can see, it is almost perfectly level, however it has a slight front rake of about .5", which is exactly what I want. NO TOP HAT INSTALLED in the front...just the preload collar. Given these numbers, I'd be nose high if I added the top hats. No other way around that. I knew it.

Alignment Specs - From Westcott
Camber: .2 to .4 positive
Toe: .1 out on each side
Caster: 1/5 degree split higher on right side

Video of everything, including my feedback on ride quality and alignment specs coming soon.

As for the 1" top hats, I put them up for sale for anyone interested in them. Brand new. Link below.

I’m curious if you have taken your rig out fully loaded with this leveling kit installed? I just purchased it and not questioning my purpose due to the fact that I’m worried about the rear end sagging when loaded with gear. I think I probably should’ve purchased the front spacer and installed the heavier duty coil in the back.

I have not, but the stock coils are super soft. You load it up, and you will sag, no doubt.

Which heavier duty coil have you researched and how much lift are they expecting to give the rear of your rig? Just curious if that is the way to go vs a .75” puck.

I just ordered these (see picture). The coil will
Give me .5” and the spacer they recommend will give me .6” for a total of 1.1” of lift, plus no sag when carrying gear. I should not have ordered the rear spacer from Westcott-lesson learned. The spacer won’t keep the rear from sagging, something I failed to consider initially.

I would say if you’re planning on putting gear and a significant amount of weight in the back of your vehicle then I would avoid the spacer and go with at least a heavier duty coil. Lesson learned on my part. The spacer won’t account for sag.

Can't wait to hear and see what you think after the install. Hopefully those sprigs give you the right amount of lift and ride quality. I always worried about installing a stiffer spring that makes the daily ride too harsh when it's not loaded down.
Did you install the Westscott front pre-collar and top hat kit or did you just install a front spacer?

I talked to Mike at Exit Offroad, he told me which coils I needed to order, and that would be compatible with my Westcott spacers. He also said I could use their .6" spacer to make the difference and the get the rear lift 1" like I planned with the Westcott rear spacer. The takeaway I got from talking to him was that if you choose the proper coil, you shouldnt have to worry too much about the ride-of course we are never going to get a plush ride unless you upgrade the entire suspension front and rear (Best I can tell from my limited research with this thing so far). I have not installed anything yet, was supposed to have it done this upcoming Sunday, but realized I didn't want to use the rear spacer, wanted to replace the coil instead. So I wil have to wait until I get that to have the install completed. I did order the regular billet top hat (no lift) as well.
