Looking to swap out the stock 245/70/17s on my SR5 and could use some advice.

It’s primarily my daily driver, but I also need it to handle winter trips to the ski resorts and summer runs out to remote camping spots. I don’t want to give up too much in terms of mpg, road noise, or ride quality, but I’d like something a little more capable than stock.

I’m sticking with the stock SR5 suspension (no lift in the near future), but I do like the look of a slightly bigger tire. I’ve been looking at the Cooper Road+Trail AT and the Vredestein Pinza AT since both seem solid in snow (TireRack tests), and I’m debating whether to bump up to something like 255/75/17 or stay closer to stock size.

Anyone running something similar? What size/tire combo has worked best for balancing daily driving, winter trips, and light off-road/camping use?

Following and in similar position. I did read somewhere that the SR5 wheel size has limitations on what tire size you can go with. Nothing to do with rubbing, more safety. I would like to go with 265 or275 with a primary goal of better road behavior over ruts and potholes. The theory being more tire, more to absorb the bumps.

Overlooked by everyone, this is a great tire - even if you go up to E load rated.

Has the best snow performance of any A/T tire as far as I know.

Thanks! Is this what you run? If so, did you keep stock size or bump up a bit?

Yep, have them on my TRD OR.

They have great manners on the pavement and are plenty capable on Colorado trails at 12,000ft. The E rated rides a touch firmer than the stock SL Falkens, but it's not a huge difference. I'm grateful for the puncture protection with these.

I went from 265/70-18 (Falken 3WA SL) to 275/70-18 (33", E-Load Rated)) and they fit fine, only had minor rubbing on the front OEM mudflaps, which I fixed by replacing with the ARK mid size.

If you have a Costco membership, Discount tire will beat their price and also include the road hazard certificates.

OP I have the Cooper At Road and trail. 265/70/17. My use case is similar to yours. I have 2k miles on the tires and like them. No louder than the stock tires. Aired at 33 psi cold they are very smooth. Great in heavy rain. Haven't had them in snow yet and if they perform as well as the testers said I will keep them. Wanted Falkens but they upgraded and could not stomach the price hike. The old Falkens on my jeep were troopers.

Those look great in your profile pic. These are what I'm leaning towards, and it's good to hear that someone else likes them! The slightly bigger size fits the wheel well nicely.

I went 255x75x17 on my 5th gen for a little more height and sidewall. Did KO2's but they were tough to keep in balance. They had good traction though. Regular tires Michelin LTX have worked well for me

I'm currently running Falken wildpeak M/T 285's on stock sr5 wheels. I get about 22 MPG highway but only 16 in the city, and I mean city, not suburbs. Road manners are actually pretty solid. I'm running these into the ground then will probably switch to Toyo At3's or FW AT4's. Both great snow wheels here in the Northeast. It's worth noting I also have an OTT Tune which has added roughly 2-3 MPG on highway

I am running the Cooper R+T in 255/75/17 and I have been really impressed so far. Gas milage is down slightly, but really not bad. I've had them since April, no snow -- but they've handled the beach and some mid-moderate trails really well. Wet traction also seems really good, but that will become more evident in the next few months as the rain returns.
