I love my 6th gen but ride quality not as smooth as 5th gen?

I now have a little over 6K on a Pro and the ride quality has improved from when I picked it up.

I think the suspension has to be broken in...

I have noticed the "comfort" mode on my limited isn't so much. Tend to feel a lot of small bumps at slow speeds. In "normal" mode I don't notice it as much.
I'm only at 600 miles and have noticed a softening of the suspension. Trying to mix up the terrain a bit to get everything moving a bit more than standard highway driving. But I'm coming from a 2012 5Gen limited I drove for 10 years, that one was a little past broken in.
Also have the 3rd Row (which will probably never be used, but I wanted a 6Gen), I wonder if the suspension is set for that at the factory (since it's adjustable). It would be nice if additional suspension customization could be done through the computer at dealership service.
Acceleration, brakes, handling - all much better in this 6Gen. But who wouldn't like just a little bit more?

Just yesterday, I upped the setting on my Pro's Fox coilovers to the middle setting because I felt there was too much sway on the lower setting. So far, I seem to be getting the ride I want now. I'm only 250 miles in and still learning.

Anybody have an sr5 with 10k miles and can chime in on if their ride quality has improved? I am at around 2200 miles and it feels like the suspension has gotten slightly softer. Might be imagining it or just getting used to the ride though.

Have the same issue in my '25 OR non-hybrid non-premium with 2000 miles. I'm gonna give it another 3000 miles then im selling and getting a 5th gen if the issue doesn't resolve itself.

This feels like the shocks/springs are too stiff for the car, possibly because they were designed for the Hybrid versions, which are 400lb heavier. This would make sense as the sr5 seems to be exempt from this issue and it is the only trim to not have a hybrid.

How is it possible to have a regression in ride quality going to a newer model? Does Toyota not do any ride testing on their cars?

Any of you guys drive sedans or any sport car before getting in a 4runner? I had a sedan with 20" wheels and low profile tires, sport trim (all OEM no "upgrades") and coming to a 4runner is a nice upgrade in terms of ride quality. Its a little bit softer and quieter too.

Reading the thread it seems like there is a quality issue?

And there is no such thing as "suspension break in".. you're stuck with what you feel.

Totally agree! Up to now, I’ve been a sports car guy -mostly Mercedes, which have obvious creature comforts that Toyo just doesn’t get. That said, my new TRD Pro rides like a champ. Bigger tires and suspension in middle setting make anything in the road easygoing.

Something has changed in my ORP regarding ride comfort since delivery day. Initially I felt the same, but after almost 5k miles and reducing PSI from 50 to 33…it’s feeling real smooth now.

This is not true. Bushings absolutely break in.

How many miles does that typically take for full breakin?
My experience has been about 5-10k miles on just about every vehicle I have owned. I have owned over 20 new vehicles. Yes I have a problem. 🤣

That's good to hear. I'm only at around 2k miles so hopefully the ride softens up a bit more.

Can you quantify the feeling of break-in, in the suspension?
How do you distinguish between that and just getting acclimated to the ride?

It is simple really. The suspension is made up of many rubber components that soften and adjust.

It’s the sr5 6th gen suspension vs the off-road trim setup on the 5th gen. If you ride in a 6th gen TRD off-road you’ll have a similar experience. Upgrading your suspension will give you a smoother ride. Even bilstein 5100s with a decent coil-over will be an upgrade over the sr5
