Looking to swap my 2021 ORP for a 2025 ORP Hybrid. Pull a trailer with a SxS at 3500-4000lbs and the locking in 4th/running at 3000+ rpm gets old. Good to hear the new one pulls better than the 5th gen
I would say the 6th gen is a similar experience for towing that weight. You put it in S5 and can still expect 3000 RPM's and a fairly loud engine at cruising speed. Source: Towed over 1000 miles so far in my 6th gen with a 4000lb trailer, and towed countless miles with my 5th gen.
*My 6th gen is not a hybrid, so your experience may be different, of course. That would be an interesting comparison.

6th gen is more like a Ford or a Jeep and certainly not old school toyota
This will appeal to owners of Fords and Jeeps but could be bit disappointing to 4runner diehards
Certain exterior/interior finishes are subpar by 5th gen standards
But 5th gen was overbuilt in that regard and only long term/2nd owners will really care
But dont be surprised if bits fall off..
The 6th gen is like buying an SUV tacoma (toyota surf?)
Consequently the ride on certain surfaces is pickup like(firm sometimes harsh)
Be aware of this if soft ride is important
Yet weirdly to drive it is like lifted rav4
The 5th gen drove like a hilux with soft ride
Its a lot harder to get in and out of the bolster on the seat could split at some point because of this
Interior layout doesn't come close to the 5th gen which was almost perfect in that regard
Layout of 6th gen is awkward which is a consequence of being a tacoma derivative
Good things
The braking system is normal car/suv vacuum type not the wierd hydraulic pump in the 5th gen(extremely expensive part)
No Xreas or kdss
Power steering is electric no powersteering fluid to replace
4cylinder means easier potentially cheaper maintenance even with more frequent spark plugs changes
That awful foot operating parking brake is gone
Somewhat better fuel economy
It is possible to hit 20mpg in urban driving at times
That was impossible in 5th gen
Highway driving it can easily keep up with the flow of traffic
5th gen wasn't that comfortable over 65mph
I will say it doesn't creak or rattle which gven the amount of rather dubious plastics is,surprising
If one likes the look of a modded 4X4 straight from the factory then one will love the look of this thing it is like a 5th gen with a 2inch factory lift running 33s

Curious why you would use S5 and not D with Tow Mode and let the computer figure out the gear to use based on instantaneous load demand?
