I'm local to the area, favorite trail is probably Canaan loop road in WV (about 3 hours away). I'd say it's slightly more difficult than Peter's Mill run but the scenery was much more interesting, and there were some nice short hikes to overlooks/waterfalls in the area. The trail can also be...
issue still persists at 5600 miles. I have not sold the car yet. There are a few other threads discussing the fix for ride quality, which appears to be installing Fox 2.0 shocks
OP's complaints are valid and recognized by several reputable sources. Unfortunate they had to sell and buy another truck.
Edmunds for example:
- "agonizingly stiff ride quality"
As a side note, @alldogsoffroad just released a video of installing the (purported) fix, aftermarket fox shocks...
This is likely the route I will take to improve ride quality. Iād like this done before shipping.
2 more questions:
1. Will the front coilover spring tension be noticeably higher since the spring is compressed more than factory by moving the collar down?
2. If I keep the factory rear springs...
Uhhh the OE Bilsteins on the Tacoma 4G OR felt way softer (better) iirc than the OE bilsteins on my 4runner 6G OR. They didnāt have the deadful jitter/harshness over broken pavement
The sr5 4runner i test drove felt slightly softer/less jittery than my OR, not a huge difference
A less expensive solution (Fox 2.0 shocks) is discussed here: https://www.4runner6g.com/forum/threads/aftermarket-suspension-options-to-improve-ride-quality-trd-orp.4525/post-88528
So if I install https://www.alldogsoffroad.com/ox-20-performance-series-shocks-for-6th-gen-toyota-4runner-lc250
without modification the front will be lifted 2inches, but the rear height will remain stock? That seems acceptable to me as the car will be level, but how hard is it to "move the...
Could you please link the parts? Thanks!
Also, the TRD PRO comes with fox shocks but people have complained about its ride quality aswell. Are these Fox shocks different from those installed on TRD PRO?
Agreed - the ride quality is absolutely unacceptable in my OR.
Itās the suspension, not the tires or frame. There is barely any give when pressing down the rear bumper of my OR, yet pressing down on the back of a ā24 (or really any other car) makes it move like 4-5 times more. The 2025's...
I tested the issue further by pressing down on the back bumper of my OR with my bodyweight, it barely has any give and is extremely stiff.
I did the same test to a 5th gen 2024, it had a ton of give. Itās very obvious to me now that the suspension is simply far too stiff in the first few...
Saying "91 improves reliability over 87" is completely different from saying "91 improves engine performance over 87".
The 2nd point is obviously true, and that along with marketing is likely the reason why 91 is recommended for the Land Cruiser. Assuming the LC has the same exact tuning and...
I agree this issue is annoying and absolutely should not happen. This needs to be resolved by Toyota ASAP free of charge.
I was just guessing the issue is most likely software related, whether itās failure to stay in an appropriately low gear or failure to lock up the TC. It is very unlikely...
Just curious, wouldnāt manually holding a lower gear (or maybe switching to sport mode) fix the issue? The issue (correct me if im wrong) appears to be the transmission holding too high of a gear, resulting in continuous torque converter slippage. I suppose it could also result from the failure...
@4rsreed thanks so much for the tow hook! You're build looks incredible in person. Something interesting I noticed was that the NYTOP recovery hooks are elevated from the stock position, which greatly reduces the risk of bottoming them out like I did.
Also to all the NOVA 4runner folks, would...
never mind about the hybrid springs on nonhybrid theory - the hybrid models have the same issue
hope this is resolvable with replacement springs. If this issue is inherent to the platform i guess i should dump the car now š...
