I said I would do this, and the dealer finally got my matching touch-up paint (Heritage Blue).

Updated with more info: This is the heavy aluminum skid plate from the 2024 Land Cruiser LC250. The Platinum trim didn't even get the hard plastic that came with the Off Road Premium. The Platinum had a small felt/cardboard thing that offers minimal anything. It weighs about 28 lbs, and is a viable upgrade for underneath protection. All of my prior 4runners had metal plates of some sort for protection.

Finished Update:

Here it is installed. The paint matched up with the Heritage Blue perfectly.

This is an awesome idea, looks sweet so far! I could even see some of those vinyl decal companies out there making pre-cut letters for this one as well as the Trailhunter and TRD skid plates (cough @StickerFab).
Bravo!

@Everybodyduck It pains me to give you a compliment, but that looks really good!

That is the last look that Gator gets, and one of the first things you'll see when pulling me out of the swamp with those fancy red tow hooks! Note the photo minimizes the visual of those princess tires lest your sensitivities be offended.

You're too funny! The first pictures you posted, I thought that the color was a little dark and didn't match well. But the paint must have still been wet because the most recent picture matches perfectly with the Heritage blue color. Job well done.

My turn to post my rig and its fancy red tow hooks is coming soon. A few weeks away!

I think the felt thing is actually not quite as stupid as it looks at first.

I mean obviously it is still nothing but a splash guard not strong enough for anything else.

But I think the felt is actually plastic, just made into fibers and compressed, and the point is probably to resist breaking.

A simple solid plastic part will easily form cracks and break apart over time. The fiberous material probably will not do that even after it gets old in 15 years, because it's not a single solid piece. It can fray and bend and rip but it can't form a crack. Or it will be a lot harder to anyway.

Planning on doing this to my skid TRD plate once it gets here later this week. Did you just paint it yourself with the included brush in the tough up paint, or did you have it professionally done? Just curious.

Use the brush from the touch-up paint. I traded my daughter a chocolate milkshake for the paint expertise she acquired from painting her fingernails.

Will this skid plate attach to the SR5 without additional hardware?
