I went 2000 miles before any screws were missing or loose checked the screws allot from info obtained from this site, then drove it 1000 miles to Florida, was missing 2 scews ,From Florida to Indiana only missing 2 scews, a couple weeks later one more screw fell out and was not driving at interstate speeds. Then took it to the dealer and they replaced the screws, Hope it holds up for my next road trip

Agree, I wonder if they wanted something that would break easy when it hit something, but this is to weak to handle interstate wind resistance

When I took my 4Runner in for the 1,000 mile oil change I checked my air dam and saw that 1 screw was missing and one was about to fall off. The service advisor said he never saw this problem before and there was no email from Toyota to look out for this defect. The service tech put a new screw in to replace the lost one and tightened all the others. I drive both city and highway. I have put another 500 miles on since and need to double check it again.

Same issue here, I had to re tighten all of the bolts
Retighten is part of it, I still need to locate 3 screws so I can replace them. However, I think I'm going to wait for the dealer to log it, notify it Toyota and have them replace the screws.

Man, I’m glad I took mine off on day 2 of ownership so I don’t have to worry. Though I will say mine was totally and securely attached when I did. Maybe I shouldn’t have tossed it in the dumpster.

would be nice if the District Sales Managers could contact the Ports to tell them which owners want them on and which ones want them off. Im sure by them just removing them it would speed up the QC holds. Mine has gone from a 30 day to a 42 day and now a 52 day QC hold on something that my dealer already knows to remove before calling me to let me know its on the lot. They also have already been given my Peak Suspension 1.25" leveling kit, front tow hooks, badge over lay and Las Fit switchback front turn/parking lights to install.
Agreed 100%! I said the same thing in another thread. I had the dealership remove mine before i took ownership as well.

I’ve spoken with two advisors from two different Toyota dealerships here on the West Coast of Florida. They tell me to disregard all the online stuff they know nothing about this issue with the air dam. I told them I’ve seen many people post issues about this Air dam - I’m not taking it as just hearsay.

That’s because it’s not. Those of us who have their vehicle being held on the qc hold are being told that it’s directly because of the air dam. It’s even labeled as QC534-Air dam service/replacement.

Mine got detached from the corners, some people have claimed the bolts fell off. Mine broke. Warranty replace, still on back order. Not planning to put it back on......

I created an account just to respond. My wife and I are long-time 4Runner owners and recently bought 2025 TRDORPs. Both vehicles have been great—no creaks, rattles, or issues with build quality. Both have been rock solid. Regarding the air dam issue, I inspected both vehicles. The screws were all nearly finger tight, my wild guess is this is because they’re installed at the port rather than the factory, and the torque is probably kept low to avoid damaging the plastic components. This is just a wild guess however.

My wife’s 4Runner had seven screws, with two missing; one missing in same location on both passenger/driver sides (same spot as in the photo above). My TRDORP had all nine screws, though they were also just finger tight. After removing both air dams (which I prefer for better clearance), neither was at risk of falling off. I re-tightened two screws on the outer holes on both sides to ensure stability, applying slightly more torque than the original setting. Hope this helps!

I'm shocked many on here are keeping the air dams on, regardless of the bolt issues they are having. The majority of people rip these ugly air dams off the moment they bring their 4Rs and Tacos home. The mpg these air dams are supposed to provide are extremely negligible...

I should add it took me longer to get the 10mm socket out of my toolbox and to lay down then to take off—5 min tops. But honestly, owned both for months now, and couldn’t be more impressed with 6th gen build quality and I’ve owned Toyotas my entire life—I hold the Tahara, Japan plant to an extremely high standard and so far they delivered on the world-class quality I expect from this plant.

I agree on the build quality. I've owned many Toyota Trucks, 79,88,92,2011,2023, and now the 4runner. By far and away my favorite
