The installation process was fairly straightforward and I just followed the step-by-step instructions on the BPF website, and the compressor install guides from ARB. It took about 2.5 hours from start to finish, including gathering up the required tools, removing the ECU bracket, mounting all the hardware, installing the new bracket, and reconnecting and testing everything.

Here are a few more photos to help you visualize the before and after.

I disconnected the battery and removed the ECU modules, which opened up a much bigger space.

Following the instructions from Bullet Proof Fabricating (a Canadian company BTW) I mounted the compressor and ECU onto their bracket.

Once I dropped it in and mounted it with the original factory bolts, it looked like this:

Next, I configured and mounted the ARB Manifold Kit on the ear off the left side of the BPF bracket:

Huge shout out to Phil Gragg at Offroad Toy Outfitters in Vancouver, WA for helping me source the parts, and giving me the confidence to undertake this one on my own. He's a great guy and a great resource for the 4Runner community!

nice work. I pulled my ARB out of my 2017 JKU when I traded it in on my TRD Pro. just been waiting for someone to come up with a mounting bracket for it..

Curious how you hook up the power since the battery is in the back.
Did you already ran a dedicated power source from the battery to the engine bay?

@vready how did you wire power? Looking to replicate your process exactly. Any concern with the compressor drawing battery power even when the vehicle is off?

Compressors get pretty warm. Are you worried at all about this causing any damage to the fuse box next to it?

Engines also get warm
Understood but it’s not all concentrated in one specific area. I guess your answer indicates it hasn’t been an issue for you? Have you used it much since installing?

Hahaha sorry I don't mean to be a smartass.

Two things:

1. I actually installed the Rough Country twin compressor instead. It was significantly cheaper, and includes a protective shroud with an included cooling fan. No problems whatsoever. BUT the mounting plate required modifications to accommodate it (holes were slightly off) and the compressor protective shroud also needed to be cut a bit to fit under the hood.

2. I only finished the install the other day, and have only tested it in the driveway. Everything seems to work fine, but definitely haven't put it under 100% duty cycle in hot conditions. (I live in Oregon and it's cold right now, I don't expect heat issues anytime soon.)

Good luck!

I have same setup.
I use the air to clean the engine bay after FSR run.
Blowing air for 15min straight no issue.

I doubt anyone will use the compressor for 15min straight when pumping air into the tire.
