oh man it took way too long. I’ve only dipped emblems which is a super quick process so I figured this would be a nice 2 hour Sunday morning project. I was totally wrong and ended up spending about 4-5 hours inhaling plastidip in my garage lol. I only have one pair of jack stands so I had to do the rears first and then the fronts. I could have probably done it quicker if I worked on all 4 wheels at one time but either way it’s a long process and you can’t really take any shortcuts.

I did one can per wheel probably 3-4 coats on top of 3-4 tack coats.

I thought the SR5 OEM wheels are already a nice black color??? If so, why do this?
they’re grey and I want black. The nice thing about plastidip is that you can easily peel it off.

I think it looks great and doesn’t look dipped. Thinking about doing this for mine. My question is how durable the dip is over time. I’d hate to wash my wheels and notice peeling after a month. I’ve seen lots of YouTube content and seems to be legit. Would love updates from you overtime to see how it holds up. Also, did you use the “matte” or the the glossy stuff?

Plastidiped the SR5 wheels. Not sure how I feel about it. What do you guys think?

Had the same wheels on my Underground SR5. It was actually my concern at the time because of the color. It's a bit shinny and aluminum look on the wheel cap and lug nuts. It does look good all black out IMO. I plasti dip my aftermarket wheels on my TC once. Just FYI. Those are dirt magnet specially on the wheels. And they're a b*tch to clean. And the longer you have it on, the harder for it to take off. And if you change your tires, those are going to come off.

I think it looks really cool but I'd be concerned about how practical it is in the long run. Having the wheels powder coated black would be more practical for the long term I think but more costly also.

I plastidipped some Mustang wheels about 10 years ago and then accidentally got some armor all on them and it melted the plastidip immediately. I don't know if the Plastidip folks tweaked their recipe since then. Is Armor All still the antidote to plastidip? If so, be careful.

Powdercoated my Sport rims. Will probably upgrade the tire size when these die, but for now at least like the all black rim. Also did yellow on the calipers.

I have the same truck. I like what you've done. Can you ballpark estimate for us what that set you back, to have those powder coated?

That looks great & better in the long term than the PlastiDip route I think. I like the colored calipers also! I might end up powder coating my wheels also in flat black & maybe the calipers in TRD Red to match the center caps.

Sure thing - my invoice reads " Line 16- Strip and powdercoat wheels - $950" - You may get it cheaper outside San Diego
