I traded in my 2025 Tundra iForceMAX for my new 2026 4Runner TRD ORP iForceMAX. I put 35,783 miles on my Tundra in 9.5 months. Total average MPG was 18.1. So far, driving similar routes, but just under 1,500 miles, I've average 24.1 MPG in the 4Runner. I'm leaving in the morning for a trip to the Big Horns in Wyoming. The switchback climb up is a MPG killer and I'll be at 8,500 to 10,000 feet the whole time. Interstate speed limit of 80 MPH. We'll see how it handles that. I'm loving the 4Runner!

Averaged 21.8 on a 500mi round trip and fully loaded with RTT and gear for a 5 day camping trip. Also has 2.5in lift and stock tire size. Bringing my overall average to 18.4 now.

Was extremely happy with this coming from a silverado getting <14mpg on the same trip, same gear. That V8 was THIRSTY.

Trip from TX > NY. 1964.4 miles. Car has me averaging 20.4 right now. These are are my fill ups. This is with Toyo 275/70/18 AT3 E loads. Set at 38 cold, been running about 42 hot.

Posted in another thread but over a 4300 mile trip to upstate NY and back from Texas, car said I averaged 20.1. These are all my fill ups. It did quite well. Lower were bad storms or trying to use Eco on back roads. Really think Eco is only good in heavy traffic.

Great point about ECO mode. I've seen several other comments from other people saying it didn't make much difference. I'm guessing it'll have more of an impact on heavy stop and go traffic or maybe with drivers who really crank their AC.

Road tripped to Colorado over the weekend and averaged 21.5 both there and back. It got astonishing mileage on the mountain trails/passes we did too. My Jeep would get 4 on those trails wheezing away above the timberline. Hybrid was just buttah in the air up there, and the engine barely ran at all when going down the hills.

According to the computer 17.4. That has been with a rtt installed. The weird part was a previous trip I was well above that with the RTT installed.

I had a 2020 Toyota 4Runner ORP, and when gas prices went up a few months ago, I found that if I kept my speed between 60–65 mph, I could average 23–25 MPG on my 32-mile one-way commute—even with off-road tires and a 2-inch lift. Once I discovered that, I stuck with that driving style.

Now I've upgraded to a 2026 Toyota 4Runner SR5. In Normal drive mode and with the vehicle completely stock, I'm seeing around 30 MPG, which is pretty impressive. It may improve because the engine is still new, but I'm happy with the results so far.

My advice for anyone looking to maximize fuel economy is simple: keep your highway speed down. Driving at 60–65 mph on open highways can make a noticeable difference in MPG.

Yes, mpg gets better when you avoid speeds above 65. We all know that. I think the issue with going 65 on highways is that's it's almost always 70+, which essentially turns you into the guy that's holding everyone up lol. Perfectly fine as long as you're in the slow lane though!
