Got one of the first Old Man Emu (OME) kits with Upper Control Arms. Suspension height is set to 3" in the front and 2" in the rear (only coils available right now).

Went with Icon Rebound Double Blacks 17x8.5 +25 offset wheels and some Nitto Trail Grappler 285/75/17 and finally a Westcott Low Pro Rack.

RTT rooftop tent is NatureNest Polaris Plus, mounted using Westcott Designs RTT mounts.

Did a lot of the work myself just to say I did!

Waiting on some CaliLED items.

Ride is better than stock and well, the look? I'll let you all decide!

can you share more about the OME setup... I had gone with a WestCott lift which is nice but when I have my rig loaded down for camping the rear sags a bit and I thought OME came configurable for added weight if your running a roof rack and things like that.

I did what you did because there weren't a lot of options out yet. I think for now a rear air bag set up would be the best and then reevaluate as more options come available.

They're MT64's; essentially a large piston monotube shock designed for handling higher loads in off-road applications. They're great, so if you're loaded down and sagging, the MT64s would be a good option.

Looks great! I went with 285/70/17 (33”), but I had buyers remorse as I thought of going with the 285/75/17 (34”) instead. I have Icon Rebounds with +25 and a 1.5” leveling kit. Also the Westcott LP rack. After wheeling in the desert I would like that extra height, but was initially concerned about the 75 being E rated instead of C and getting a harsh ride. So now I’d like to know what effect your suspension and tire set up has on ride quality, and gas mileage? You say better than stock? Can you elaborate? Have you taken it off road yet? Thanks for posting!

The Ridge Grapplers are load C and the suspension is not as harsh as the stock Bilsteins. The OME heavier rear coils are still in development . They suggest an airbag system if only needing a little more support occasionally. Unloaded with the heavier springs would be a more harsh ride.

E rated tires won't give you a harsh ride but the weight will drag on your performance and gas mileage.

Oh yeah! Nice build! Looks fantastic and I'll bet it's a sweet ride on the asphalt.

I did that similar type of build with my third gen and 5th gen. Didn't cut any Corners by putting in phony components that lift without real suspension articulation. I went with Bilstein when I did my suspension upgrades to my 3rd and 5th gen. Yes I did all the work myself other than the wheel alignment. You did an excellent job.

I'm guessing from Center Hub to wheel well, it looks like a 3 or 3 and 1/2 in height gain?

MT64 Kit FR 3 in/0 lb, RR 2 in/0 lb 2134K

By any chance is this the kit that you used.? Your truck looks very level so I'm guessing the front is the 3-inch in the rear is the two which comes with this kit. I've been thinking of this but have a question for you on the damping and rebound. Is the rebound smooth, I have not had any
Experience other than friends coil springs from ome. Thanks in advance

I did the 2135k. The ride is very smooth compared to the factory suspension. It is the 3 front- 2 rear kit with the upper control arms. Rebound is nice and smooth. No rapid rebound that gives a bumpy ride. I’ll report on the off road capabilities once I’m back in town in a few weeks.
