I was used to it coming from Subarus with the Eyesight system. They like to charge a lot for reprogramming all that stuff and if your insurance does not cover it, can get expensive. That is why the finance folks like to push that warranty on the windshield.

SC has free no deductible windshield replacement by state law. 🤷‍♂️

I've had to use it almost once every couple of years. I now put windshield protection film on my cars just to avoid the hassle. But the installer has to be really good or else you get some weird affects.

It’s helps if you skip the “calibration” which you likely don’t need… but they will certainly sell it to a willing customer.

I didn’t use my insurance. And I pad $1,200 out of pocket. No idea why the hell you paid $1,800.

I only paid a $100 deductible for a OEM windshield thru State Farm
I have State Farm. We’ll see

Have no way in hell paid $1800 yet. Was just a number from another guy
So, if you claim on your insurance, will that not cause an increase in premiums?
It, of course, will increase your premiums eventually. When I lived in the over-run state of Florida, I paid through the nose for auto insurance. They replace windshields down there that 'think about cracking'!!! Scam the insurance.. Not to mention the elderly who can't see or hear or react, the foreigners who are accustomed to driving in the left lane, the un-parented teenagers (2 racing took out a young mother pushing her child in a buggy across a walkway a few years ago, yep, on Bay Shore drive).............and the speeders, and those lacking drivers licenses........etc, etc.
