I just purchased a set of Bilstein 6112/6100 for my 4Runner. I’m hoping this will improve the ride and handling. However what springs and UCAs would everyone recommend with this kit? I’m looking for something that will make the ride less harsh than how the OEMs currently ride that’s also durable and reliable for both the springs and UCAs. It’ll be mostly on road with some not so serious off roading a few times a month.

I was thinking that the OME or Icon UCAs would be more then enough for my needs or are there other options I should consider. Dirt King maybe?

Icon delta joint is one of the best UCA's on the market currently. Pretty budget friendly as well, a slight name brand premium but certainly worth it imo. Running them myself and they have been stellar in all facets of driving.

Solid UCA guide (here)

Thanks! I’ll take a look. I’m thinking Icon or OME at the moment. Don’t think I can go wrong with either of those choices.

Agreed, contrary to popular belief it is okay to mix and match. My suspension is a mix of OME, ICON, and Dobinsons.

The guys at shock surplus are also pretty solid with helping build a suspension setup that fits your needs and budget as well - highly recommend

I wonder what insights they have on rear springs to pair up with the Bilsteins. I’ve seen people run eibach rear springs but what they have available are tuned for the hybrid so I might have to keep searching or waiting.

hmm, good question. If I had to guess I would assume Dobinsons, that's also what I'm running. They are great for higher payload's. I do not have a hybrid, but I have substantial added weight in a hardshell RTT, rack, sliders, full skid set, M/T's, and my big back haha

Curious how do the TRD ones compare to these aftermarket ones.

Kind of a slippery slope, most people upgrading springs are doing a lot more to other components. Relative to use case as well. But the majority of the time aftermarket from a reputable brand is better, especially with durability

I should look into the 5th Gen’s and see what they paired up their Bilsteins with. I’ll eventually do bumpers and sliders but nothing much more than that.

I’m curious why you need new upper control arms?
If you are not lifting the rear end, then just stick with the OEM rear springs.
Whatever you do, don’t make the mistake I did and by toy tech rear springs, they were creaking badly. $250 down the drain, as I just threw them in the garbage yesterday.
