So I originally was gonna get a full Prinsu rack, but I think it’s probably overkill for light camping and gravel bike hauling—I want to save a little weight. I’m trying to find some alternative cross bars that aren’t like the OEM ones but that have a low profile and are flat so I can mount stuff directly to them. I’ve seen the Victory 4x4 cross rails (https://www.victory4x4.com/product/...UinvLTVh4XBrRDGDJ9sEaK-8-4i-CABGERA_S6CDnMpdA) but they’re pretty raised and look like they’d be crazy loud.

Has anyone seen other options?

I'm running Yakima towers and HD bars on ours. Was also considering the Thule Aeroblade set up, but the HD's are a stronger bar when we eventually get that RTT set up.

No experience with these, but I'm looking for the same low profile and not wanting to use a roof rack.

Rago Fabrication Roof Rack Crossbars for 6th-Gen 4Runner with OEM Roof Rails (2025–Present) - Set of 5
https://www.corgrit.com/rago-fabric...-roof-rails-2025-present-set-of-5-ac7109501na
I just pulled the trigger on these - price dropped since the last time I looked.
I see no reason not to go direct to Rago - who offers free shipping and the same low price as all the resellers: $389
Rago Fab 2025+ Toyota 4Runner Overland Crossbars for Factory Roof Rails
Corgit still showing the previous, higher, price: $598 - big delta.
And Rago gave me 10% off on top of that for signing up for their marketing.
SO: all in with tax at $372 - just a bit more than I paid for the less functional stock toyota crossbars. (Which I'll be posting for sale for less than half what I paid if anyone is interested).

I really like that these provide maximum mounting points for the available length of the stock rails AND sit flush with the top of the rail - so many plusses to that feature in my opinion.

These Rago crossbars require removing the factory rails and drilling into them to install rivet nuts to connect the crossbar assembly to the rails. Seems straightforward but am curious if anyone here has done it and has any advice based on experienced?

If anyone is interested I'll post installation pics and comments after I install. Comment here if I should do that.

Received on Friday and installed Sunday. Installation guide

Assembly is fairly straightforward but removing and drilling out the rails took me a while. Getting the rack itself assembled was maybe 30 minutes...

My 25/64 drill bit was not up to the job - ended up using ~1/4 inch bit as a pilot and stepping up. Our rails are steel and fairly thick. And the two holes at the front and back have more steel behind them. I recommend getting a new, sharp 25/64" bit rated for metal and assuming it will be trashed at the end.

I needed Amazon to come through with an overnight delivery since I did not have a Rivet Nut Tool. Now I do - and can imagine it being useful in the future (it even came with 6 bags of different size rivet nuts - for around $30 and overnight delivery I think it was a deal. And it worked like a champ once I had the holes drilled.

Pay attention to front vs back and the location of the holes you drill into the rails. I had one hole that I must have slipped on. Was able to get the hardware into the rivet nut at a bit of an angle but and a lot of hard turning on my 5/32" Allan wrench. am surprised the wrench survived.

I put a heavy blanket and a couple of 1"x6" on the roof as I lifted it up there. The rack assembly without crossbars is about 50# so not easy to position but doable with care. The wood and blanket were nice to have for sliding into place but there is very little space between the bars and the roof - just less than the 3/4" width of that one-by near the edges and less everywhere else. Had to slide the boars out to make the final adjustments. Am happy with the result. Very sturdy. I'm going to be over the spec dynamic limit (135#? 165#?) with my 64# awning and 97# spare tire - plus the weight of the rack - but it really ties to two rails together and is very sturdy so I'm hopeful that I'll be good.

I've not had these on the highway, yet but they are SO low profile that I'm not expecting much noise. And I think they should generate less wind resistance than the stock rails I had on. Will correct myself if they end up being noisy.

Get Thule or Yakima with aero bars.
